  • Afternoon rally underway [View news story]
I've searched the market news websites and cannot find any breaking stories to justify a 23 point rally in emini SP Futures. What gives? Maybe another "Whatever it takes" comment from Draghi?

  • Goldman upgrades precious metals miners, Barrick Gold upped to Buy [View news story]
"He nearly died because gold was so profitable..."

It should be noted that he nearly died because he was an idiot for swallowing 15 gold bars.

"Its the worst in the nation."

If that were true, why are so many businesses and families migrating to Texas? In fact, businesses and individuals are leaving CA, NY & the rust-belt in droves. Why not wake up and smell the coffee?

  • Debt ceiling debate reportedly over [View news story]
"How does the Tea Party plan to pay the $5 trillion bill for George W. Bush's 2 wars?"

That's easy... Start another war with an oil-rich, middle-eastern despot. But this time, we actually TAKE their oil.

"the threat of default is just part of its campaign of domestic economic and financial terrorism ."

You give our politicians too much credit... they're not that clever. They're just a bunch of yahoos tap-dancing to their constituents music.

  • The No-Taper Decision Is A Game-Changer: Buy Stocks [View article]
    Mr Tokic,

I don't believe the DJ Ind. & SP500 will run up "exponentially" like Nasdaq did in 1999-2000. Large caps are too heavy to go parabolic. We all know that Nasdaq's rally was fueled by tech IPO's ("dot com" bubble). It is unlikely the DJ Ind. & SP500 will ever achieve that same exponential growth.

Why not compare apples to apples? Take a good look at a monthly or quarterly chart of DJ Ind. & SP500 and compare the last 3 rallies (2000, 2007 & today) in both of these indexes. This current rally has mirrored (if not exceeded) the last two rallies in strength. The fruit on the trees are ripe and it's just a matter of time before the fruit starts falling from the trees.

  • Bearish Catalysts Mounting: How I'm Positioning [View article]
"Because all stocks I watch (more than 50) are trading at 52-week highs with a poor risk reward ratio. In order to make some pennies, a buyer risks losing it all."

Then logic should tell you to wait until your list of stocks approach a better risk reward ratio. I cannot advise you because I swing trade ETF's and futures. I am too slow for day-trading and too fast for position trading. Just found what works for me.

  • How Will The No Taper Surprise Affect Stocks? [View article]
"I don't believe the fed will ever taper because of the effect on the equity market."

I disagree. Each year that passes, QE becomes less effective. At some point in the future, the FED will realize they are only throwing good money after bad. Sure, they can double down, but at that point they will have lost a great deal of faith and credibility in the eyes of market participants.

  • Bearish Catalysts Mounting: How I'm Positioning [View article]
"Because I don't want to trade at all. I prefer making rational decisions based on a company's fundamentals, not some technical charts."

Who's stopping you? Free country, free market. Buy and Hold like the majority do, it sounds like it might bring you more peace.

"I was taught there that market makers had the prints of all orders and could see small market participants."

Those guys are all going the way of the dinosaur. Most floor traders have gone electronic. The guys remaining on the trading floors are a dying breed, an anachronism. They used to have their way with the markets, now they have to deal with the more efficient electronic markets. You should watch the "Floored"
It could open your eyes to the realities of floor traders, or at least those who remain.

"I will say though that healthcare premiums should be extremely high for those who refuse to exercise, stop smoking, etc."

From what I have seen, the majority of the poor smoke and or do not exercise. Of course, I am probably wrong. Maybe it's just the town where I live?
