  • Crisis Surfaces As Barnes & Noble Defies Microsoft [View article]
By any measure, the Barnes & Noble NOOK is a superior device to the Amazon Kindle. Here are two articles from Consumer Reports, to start: http://bit.ly/tRhKni and http://bit.ly/u21L8h

Also, IDC reports that B&N was actually outselling Amazon in devices prior to the launch of Fire: http://bit.ly/sbLwPU/

The B&N technology is superior. Don't count them out.

  • Barnes & Noble (BKS +0.6%) spikes a little after officially unveiling its anticipated Nook Tablet. Spec-wise, the Nook Tablet has an edge on Amazon's (AMZN) Kindle Fire: the device is lighter, sports twice as much memory, and features a high-quality IPS LCD display. But will that be enough to offset Amazon's edge in pricing and (potentially) apps?  [View news story]
In short, yes. NOOKcolor was a smash, outselling Kindle in Q1 - http://bit.ly/vkAvAs - and Fire is playing catch up. Get your hands on them. B&N is releasing superior products.

  • Barnes & Noble Could Be The Next Borders [View article]
    Ummm.. B&N hasn't paid a dividend since February (http://bit.ly/v5c8xQ/)

Publishers need a place to showcase books. It's how the business works. If B&N went down, it'd bring the entire book industry with it.

There is an amazing process at work here: the world's best bookseller is transforming itself into the world's best e-bookseller and their customers are along for the ride.

In bookselling, trust is the keyword. Barnes and Noble has that with their customers. Buy, hold and thank me later.
