If there is severe deflation in rich countries, what would keep emerging markets, which historically have no qualms about printing money, from buying up the world?

  • How Does the Financial Crisis Affect the Peak Oil Thesis? [View article]

  • How Does the Financial Crisis Affect the Peak Oil Thesis? [View article]
The problem with using "peak oil" to justify an investment in oil company stocks is similar to using the "too big to fail" backstop to justify an investment in banking stocks: even if it's true, you can still lose. Peak oil does not automatically translate into a happy story for shareholders. Some companies will start running into production problems (cost runups) or just flat out run out of reserves before others do. Do you really want to risk being a shareholder on the first company to run out of oil?

  • Is Oil a Bubble? Part One [View article]
The tech bubble resulted in cheap technology for the consumer and cheap stocks 5 years later.
The housing bubble is resulting (just wait 1-2 more years) in dirt-cheap luxury housing and investment-of-a-lifeti... opportunities in REITs, homebuilders, and housing-related junk bonds.
So, it stands to reason that the OIL BUBBLE will lead to overinvestment now followed by SUPER CHEAP ENERGY in 5 years. Expect to see a mega-bull market lead by airlines, chemicals, and consumer cyclicals!! Starting in 2013.
