Nice piece. As a small, individual investor, I make sure I contemplate brokerage fees; and LT vs. ST capital gains as well. I have a few growth stocks, but I also see income stocks as a good place to be. If I own GE, which yields 3.7%, and pay 15% in dividend taxes, that's better than I can do with most CD's these days. And it kind of hedges against the dollar's decline, because I own a piece of a company instead of depreciating greenbacks.
