Apple's $199 iPhone Is a Game-Changer

I agree with you. What hasn't been mentioned is the youth market. The initial price was beyond the range of most of the youth market. A subsidized price will help; but it will be the new games that will push youth sales higher soon after June. Universities are already experimenting with iPhone/iPod Touch Wi-Fi campus communications, giving new freshmen one or the other.

The number of useable software programs will explode by Christmas creating more good word of mouth. Apple will be developing microprocessors for hand held functions for their devices with the engineers of the recent acquisition. Their many patents portend an integrated view of the technological future for personal use where only they can provide the integrated solution.

A New World for the iPhone

Besides forecasting a bigger hand held iPod game device this year, the fast development time, 2 weeks for the demos shown, will encourage a lot of developers to try out the free SDK. This will show them how to develop software for the Mac, on a Mac with most of the same tools that come free with their Mac purchase. Corporations can avoid the server charges for Blackberry functionality while developing corporate programs with the functionality of desktop software. This will mean a lot more programmers familiar with OS X, and software ports. It's big news for the iPhone business; but also a halo effect for OS X and corporate IT familiarity.
