Nat Gas supplemented by nuclear is the preferred and most cost effective way to go in the intermediate/long term. Certainly, solar and wind have a role (albeit a small one) in the big scheme of things, but that is very small role. They won't and cannot contribute to more than 10-15% of the total installed capacity at best. Adding battery storage to wind and solar will only push them to be more not cost effective and reduce their role even further.
