    There is one fallacy in the argument that reducing prices of cells $/Watt will make solar more affordable to the masses. Recognize that installed cost per watt runs around $8.00 for the average Joe installing one on his roof. The panels cost of that $8.00 is roughly $3.00 and the reminder is the electronics and installation cost. Thus the only meaningful way to make solar affordable for the masses is to attack the non-panel costs. Make the hardware as well as the installation DIY so that average guy who is handy can do it himself. Then watch the rate of adoption.
