  • Should We Allow Kyle Bass To Bet On The Economic Implosion Of Japan? [View article]
How does blame go to Bass for 30 years of bad government policies ?

If our treasuries are at 2% ... JGB's should be at least double that cause Japan is in horrible shape on many accounts.

We don't even have to get into average age of population or the low birth rates. For as much as some people complain about immigration in the US ... immigration is the growth driver of population for us. Go ahead and kick all the illegals out ... our economy would implode.

  • The S&P 500 Today Versus The 2007 Peak [View article]
When people talk about the S&P 500 I think to myself it's really the S&P 499+1.

Just removing that one stock really changes valuations of the SPY. History shows that AAPL's dominance won't last forever, and history has a funny way of showing up now & then when it's least expected.

  • Wrong on Sprint, Again [View article]
I don't have a dog in this fight but anyone buying Sprint should consider the balance sheet of which intangibles are ~40% of Assets and according to Morningstar ~30B in LT debt.

Sprint has had lower revenues 4 years in a row and 3 years of running in negative EPS.

Sure Sprints stock might run but it's only a matter of time before they issue more stock to pay off some of that debt IMO.

  • Putin addresses lawmakers, annexes Crimea [View news story]
I think y'all are assuming the game is over when we're still in the first inning.

Putin gets Crimea, but what happens if the Euros re-think their nuclear power strategy. 10 years from now who does Russia sell NatGas to ? They won't have any economy to speak of.

Also if I'm Putin - I don't know why I'd alienate NATO when China is moving in to Russia already.

  • YouTube - Yelp's Greatest Threat [View article]
If you think YouTube is a better place to search for a review ... you haven't searched for anything... it's laughable to even consider as an end-user.

Take Vegas Buffets which is probably the easiest to video and compare - you just can't find good quality videos of an entire buffet without searching through half a dozen garbage videos which will waste you half an hour.

Yelp has tons of great pics of those buffets which you can find in seconds.

As a Yelp user we took a 2 week vacation around Nova Scotia in the off-season and used nothing but Yelp to find restaurants and motels. And let me tell you finding a cheap motel on a street you've never been to before is unbelievably easy on Yelp. Even if there are no reviews the locations/phone are right there. Trying to use Google like that won't work because Google inundates you with a ton of extra stuff when trying to do a simple search.

As a value guy I could not own Yelp stock, but I do love their site.

  • Why LinkedIn Will Be A $300 Stock This Time Next Year [View article]
A stock at 21x revenues going 50% higher ... guess some people didn't learn from the dotcom bubble.... just goes to show how much liquidity is actually in the market to push LNKD to such valuation levels.

  • Should We Allow Kyle Bass To Bet On The Economic Implosion Of Japan? [View article]
I read the article - did you READ the article ?

When you write "But he bets against JGBs anyway" and follow with "one can safely assume these are highly leveraged". And proceed to talk about highly leveraged bets as if they were fact right after you "assume" ... it made me laugh. It's like saying you assume the world is flat and then going out and telling everyone the world is flat due to your assumption. (Writing 101 - you can't express an opinion and then say it's fact.)

And then this gem "If Kyle Bass and the hedge funds shorting JGBs succeed, he'll significantly contribute to wrecking the third biggest economy in the world."

Really ? Bass is going to wreck Japan all by itself or did Japan wreck itself over the past 30 years of BAD government policies ?

Do you think a country with the MOST debt to GDP of every country in the world should have the one of the lowest interest rates ? Does that make sense to you ? It doesn't make sense to me.

Japan isn't going to be able to inflate itself out of their problem - not going to happen.

  • May Be Selling You - Buyer Beware [View article]
As long as the the big mutual fund holders continue to buy/prop up the price then the stock will keep going up.

How does Fidelity (14% owner), Vanguard & etc justify owning a stock so absurdly overpriced ? Got me ~

  • Apple: Tim Cook Isn't The Problem [View article]
AAPL's problem was the 700B market cap - only so many buyers to push the stock higher when the stock was 700$.

AAPL should be buying stock back hand over fist to reduce share count. They should also be selling OTM Puts like mad.
