  • Bank Of America - Still The Best Buy Of The Big Banks [View article]
We had accounts for many years at Bank of America and felt relief when we closed them after the Countrywide acquisition that took the Bank into what I believed was unethical and predatory territory. Perhaps BAC will continue its climb back into stability (and I hope that it does for the many kind, conscientious, and competent employees who work in its branches), but I'm not convinced that the corporate culture has changed. Beyond this concern, I would also not be a buyer of its stock for the following Seeking Alpha portfolio statistics for BAC:

    Dividend Yield - 0.2
    Return on Equity 4.0
    Return on Assets 0.4
    36m Beta 2.20

  • What's In Store For Apple's App Store? [View article]
Thank you for a very interesting and nicely detailed account of an increasingly substantial source of revenue for Apple. It was especially valuable to see your plausible assumptions about the costs of administering and monetizing the applications.

  • The Short Story Of Intercept Pharmaceuticals (Part I): A Conference Call With Expert Physicians [View article]
Because many are understandably eager to get in early on a future pharmaceutical powerhouse, and watching a drug stock's price climb reinforces the desire to avoid missing out on a great ride, we need the help that you and other knowledgeable commentators can offer to put drug development news and possibilities in a clear and un-hyped context. Thanks for the two good articles you have offered us that provide useful insights and caution.

  • Our Dynamic Duo: Apple And Facebook [View article]
Thanks for the interesting and, in my opinion, appropriately encouraging case for AAPL. While I am not a Facebook user or potential investor, it was interesting to see your assessment, as well, for FB.

  • Apple, Cirrus Logic rally after iPhone/iPad supplier reports strong sales [View news story]
Given the substantial cost of the iPhone for customers in China, I'd be surprised if many people decided to order one without seeing and holding it and having its features demonstrated and explained. Who set the expectations that prompt Cleveland Research to call the pre-registrations disappointing? Let's wait and see how sales go before drawing conclusions.

  • A Stock That Keeps On Truckin' [View article]
I became a believer and shareholder in ODFL after a search through all the stocks on fin.viz for companies projected to grow over 10%/year for the next 6 years. It's interesting and helpful to learn about your insights and enthusiasm after tracking the stock. I think that the trucking industry is about to have a much better year than some people expect, and I thank you for posting the article.

  • Apple: Panic Time Already? [View article]
    MIchael --

You're reading into my comment something that I neither intended nor expressed. I think that worker exploitation is terrible and never condone it. Apple has several times expressed its concern about employee concerns at Foxconn and Tim Cook has visited the production line and told the management that Apple expects fair treatment (pay and working conditions). Apple could refuse to deal with Foxconn, but that would entail a considerable cost to Foxconn, its workers, and Apple and involve a potential breach of contract as well as an extended and disruptive period of switching production companies. The analyst and you, I suspect, do not know how much Apple has done to address the workers' concerns. If more could and should be done, I'm all for it.

  • Apple: Panic Time Already? [View article]
This is a good and sensible article, though I wish you'd chosen a less sensationalized title.

For some analysts, down-grading AAPL seems to be a form of self-promotion, but in the Case of Wells Fargo, the downgrade seemed an attempt to get people focused on something other than wrongdoing at Wells Fargo Bank announced December 30, 2013: "Wells Fargo will pay a net $541 million to Fannie Mae to settle claims over defective home loans, completing the government-controlled mortgage company's efforts to have banks buy back troubled loans made before the financial crisis."

Also, is Standpoint Research aware that it's Foxconn rather than Apple that's paying the low salaries?
