Eric Sprott: I Think We Are In For A Shortage Of Physical Gold [View article]
Ever heard of the periodic table? AU, silver, platinum and copper are all found there among the rest. Therefore their precious status is not serendipity.
If gold and silver did not exist we would invent them don't you think?
Eric Sprott: I Think We Are In For A Shortage Of Physical Gold [View article]
I was in India a while back and exchange rate not bad. Went back again and the rate was still okay but it now took a lot more rupees. The hyperinflation on everything. I went into a shop in Delhi to buy gold jewelry which is 18 ct and the pieces were so ugly and expensive I did not buy a thing. Wish i had bought silver bangles though.
Middle class Indians here never bring up the extreme poverty of India. And don't like it when you do. But I bring it up anyway. India is not a welfare state even though control freaks about some things. So you see ridiculously poor folks and families living on the street, in parking lots and on train tracks.
On the other hand Indian doctors have set up shop in the USA and in Texas corner the psychiatry market. Americans have a lot of catching up to do in the sciences and medical field.
That's like buying penny stock that hits five bucks and slowly drops 25 cents. You got a bunch of it so the drop is moot. You can rest assured in the knowledge that you can continue to hold or just buy more or even sell. You cannot lose if you are the alpha.
Like my Capricorn grandfather I prefer buying silver as coins. Again bought walking liberty dollars new ones for 6.95 a piece less than 7 years ago. And now they are out of my price range. I wish I had bought a bag of them. I thought that was expensive back then. Poor jewelry makers have to pay the new price of silver.
That's why I have to shop pawns. I finally found a diamond tennis bracelet in 14k w 1.5 diamond tcw for under 300 $. It was on sale so i paid less than 60 per gram for a 6 gram item. The only way to buy.
In the 90s these used to be in mothers day ads for 100 bucks retail. But based on price of gold back then that was actually too much. I could kick myself for not buying diamond 1 ct earrings I used to see in pawn for 99$.
Diamonds are getting dear too even though I think it a rigged industry. So we should be buying them too.
Heightened Risks Could See Baidu At $70 [View article]
I recall when Baidu was near 300. I bought into it this year but quickly sold that position when I saw it tank. I plan to leave it alone. It WAS a big deal but why should anyone buy it at 70? It is one of the few dogs I picked this year.
Sign of the retail times buying gold jewelry retail you will find that they are no linger putting gold backs on post earrings. but plastic holders instead. The pawn shops are getting empty and there is less silver and gold jewelry in dept stores.
Netflix's (NFLX +3.4%) price target is upped to $105 from $80 by Morgan Stanley's Scott Devitt, who is a big fan of last week's deal with Disney. "(Netflix is) on course to potentially disrupt the long-standing premium cable ecosystem." [View news story]
Oh thank you I just added to my shares yesterday before the price went up. You guys at SA are missing an opp to post a generic article about buying in the atmosphere of "fiscal cliff" uncertainty. I am buying before the prices go up!
But for me substance over style wins out. I shop prolifically with amazon but do my watching with Netflix. Amazon has nothing on Netflix in terms of content and that is what Iam buying.
I don't know about healthy but just about every stock I bought and sold this year made money. If I had not traded too soon but I had my doubts about some which tanked and did not resurface but that was only a drop in the bucket. You can make money in Nasdaq using a dart board too IMO.
Here's what my crystal ball says: That with the rapid rise of smartphones, ipods and ipads etc that many more will do as I do have streaming and DVD content from somebody. And that somebody may as well be Netflix.
They do have lots of foreign flics which suits me personally just fine. But by the time they expand greater into Europe and the rest of the known world I think it will all be over but the shouting.
I like Netflix but I don't like your prognastications.
I buy on that day against the trading price of gold, rather just below it. So, if they try to sell me something I haggle it down.
Also, you are WRONG. Why? Because when gold first started to climb and was about 900, I took in a small handful of gold that I did not wear anymore and got 600 bucks for it.
Now, I wish I had not sold. I have not sold anymore since.
