I thought STATOIL was chickening out of drilling and exploration for the moment.

  • Advanced Micro Devices - Sittin,' Waitin,' Wishin' [View article]
What I don't understand about this stock is why, if the company is so incredibly bad, is it traded so heavily? There was a day when 40 million shares were traded. This is no Dow Jones Industrial. Shouldn't everyone have run for the exits and AMD ended up at the OTC?

  • Back to the future: The return of Richard Schulze to Best Buy (BBY) as Chairman Emeritus along with two of his nominees to the board is a good indication the founder will hold on to the large stake in the company he owns and will back a turnaround plan. If CEO Joly and Schulze are on the same page, analysts think the chances for a Best Buy revival look more promising. Shares of BBY +0.7% premarket to $22.92, marking their highest trading level in ten months. [View news story]
OMG! This company really is hopeless!!

  • RadioShack: Investment Or Speculation? [View article]
As better electronics products became less expensive for the public, Radio Shack could no longer peddle neither its in-house brand, Realistic (way back) nor did it have anything in high demand such as the Casio brand...also way back. Like Best Buy and as this article mentions when it makes a reference to Apple products and how retailers make very little on them, Radio Shack is now just a plain store.
Radio Shack is alive because of its large number of stores. There is really not much reason to go there. Add online retail and there is really no reason to go there at all.

  • Intel Can Survive Without AMD [View article]
I find it hard to believe that Intel let this happen to its market dominance. Now they are probably behind.

  • Advanced Micro Devices Shows Its Teeth With New Architectures, Stock Has Upside To $8 [View article]
I don't understand Wall Street on this. I know that the stock price has to be brought down somehow to make a profit but when it comes to some companies, Wall Street is ignorant.
AMD has SURVIVED--literally--b... an Intel competitor. That is not easy. Seriously. Even Apple switched to an Intel processor. AMD is X86 compatible; has always been. AMD has been able to provide low end computing for the longest time.

As for the end of the PC, WTF? It doesn't really matter what you call it; PC,notebook, iPad, THEY ARE ALL COMPUTERS. People are fooled by the package. The only thing that matters is the microprocessing power within; that is ALL. If it can't MAX OUT, it is crap and it gets tossed. That's how that market works. It is also one of the reasons why processors keep getting faster and memory larger. If someone can achieve, THEY have the market; especially if they can do it at a lower, or the lowest cost.
