no, you're right valuestock, it'll NEVER happen:

      www.latimes.com/busine...

      gizmodo.com/371116/chr...

and that was from a 3 second google search... your car will be connected to your home and autoshop and more by internet in 2010 -- the kids will be surfing in the back.

So if I already have internet, why on earth would I pay for a separate satellite service...?

internet based radio/services will take over before this merger gains any traction... these stocks are dead.

for example, my iPhone is a full-fledged portable internet radio - the barriers to entry are gone. as soon as the internet is standard in cars (and that's right around the corner), the growth is completely gone... the satellite infrastructure is now redundant.

add in Sirius XM's debt and this story is a slam dunk.

Sirius Satellite Radio is Seriously Undervalued
cos1000... I knew I should have said "under 30".. lol.

Anyway, my point is - and I admit I was not clear this time - that the internet is coming to the car, making the satellite infrastructure obsolete. The barrier to entry for competitors of subscription, commercial free, broadcasts - just like XMSR/SIRI - will become practically nil.

The rest of the story, complete with compressed margins and huge competition, is easy to figure out. and in the end, why even have satellite radio in the car when the internet - which also communicates diagnostics to my car shop/dealer and lets me control things in my house and get email etc - will provide the same type programming and is already there?

satellite radio is going to die. I've not heard of anyone under 35 with any interest at all.

The fullblown internet is coming shortly to the car anyway, which means tens of thousands of station and podcasts etc available -- why would anyone pay for a redundant information/music system in satellite then?

$1.2 Billion in iPhone Apps? Not Likely.
Well written and though I don't fully agree - I am glad to've read this take.

      However:

"His 55 million “conservative” estimate is anything but. So far, Apple has sold 6 million iPhones since it launched nearly a year ago, and is on track to sell 10 million total by the end of 2008. Munster thinks it will be able to sell 45 million in 2009, or more than seven times what it sold during its first year. Yes, the price cut (if you can call it that) to $199 will spur more sales. But not 7X more sales."

You're not taking into account the exponentional growth of the base in the last year (months, even). Add to that the fact that APPL is now finally giving Europe and Asia what they require in 3G. The previous version was nothing but a beta release in most of the world... I'm astounded it sold as well as it did in Europe.

So, you say "7x"? I say yes - entirely possible.
