Joe, not getting them huh? I started using MailChimp and seems a lot of people stopped getting them. Do keep checking your spam folder, or give me a different email to check.

That is false. Rio is only putting non-OT TRQ holdings up for sale, like SouthGobi, Ivanhoe Australia. OT is NOT up for sale.

Excellent article Gary. Unlike Emmett Kodesh, you seem to understand the real situation in Mongolia, where I am from

  • Turquoise Hill And Rio Tinto: Are They Good For Mongolia? [View article]
I have some harsh words for you Emmet. In short, I want to say you know absolutely nothing about Mongolia.

If you'd like to go specific, let me know

hardly a good summary of the situation in Mongolia. Worst I've heard actually. Emmet only proved his total lack of understanding about Mongolia, or OT for that matter

  • U.S. Concerns At Oyu Tolgoi Mine Likely To Delay Funding, Another Blow For Rio Tinto [View article]
You're forgetting IFC board already approved the financing, the US just abstained from the voting.

Also, it's not the US' place to lecture Mongolia on how to use it's land, or yours. However the impact will be to the environment, no doubt it'll be handled with stringiest of internationals standards.

Mongolia deserves the chance to develop and pick itself up from poverty. OT alone has the chance to significantly improve the average living standards of the my people.

OT most likely will not be build a dedicated power plant but will buy power from the proposed power plant to be built using Tavan Tolgoi http://bit.ly/13QwuAn.

TRQ closed just -0.43% on Monday, despite the so called "concerns" by the US.

Bob, what does corporation mean in "The Government of Mongolia, which owns 34% of the corporation" ?

Delay after delay? Didn't TRQ always say they are on or ahead of schedule?

IFC's decision is not tentative from what I believe, but a final one, which will now lead to direct negotiations with TRQ.

Don't agree with your analysis that the US abstaining will have impact on shares, as witnessed by today's trade of just around -1.3%.

  • Mongolia Revokes Licenses On Rio Tinto Mine [View article]
Brian's article was a little incorrect about what Minister Gankhuyag said:

    1. Gankhuyag did not say there is no tax credit agreement, but that the agreement did not specify HOW it was to be used. But OT claims they had clear OK from government to start using the credits from 2012, but now looks like they agreed that OT will pay that $150m and Mongolia will pay back the $250m through 2014-2015
    3. Tsagaan is still an advisor to Elbegdorj, actually the head of his office.
    4. Entrée only owns 20% of the licenses suspended. Rest is owned by OT.
