many of the funds purchase based on analyst projections over company projections. Typically the market is pricing in those expectations, so adjustments to those expectations can lead to adjustments in stock value and pricing.

Looks like it only went as low as $585.10. I had expected a bigger drop.

  • ARM In Servers: Be Skeptical In Buying The Hype [View article]
I have enjoyed making 15+% in the last two days on my ARMH investment. INTC has been flat. No surprise there. As ARMH grows upstream, their royalty rates are growing, as INTC goes after mobile and battles competition with products like Windows RT, Asus Transformer, Samsung Chromebook, and soon MicroServers, their margins will be declining. Which would you rather own?

Everyone thinks of ARM as tablets. Windows RT, Chromebooks and Chromboxes are building on the Asus Transformer in blurring the lines. Walk around an office or manufacturing floor. How many of those PC's truly need to be PC's?

But if your SUV was your key competitive advantage that made the difference in your corporate survival, you would choose the ability to design your SUV over using off the shelf SUVs. It is not vertical integration because the manufacturing is outsourced. The key attributes that make the difference in performance and the micro architecture design and the way the software interfaces with it. Those companies already do all their own custom code, Apple has already started to customize their APU, so we are already going in that direction.

  • ARM In Servers: Be Skeptical In Buying The Hype [View article]
More and more server manufacturers are not outside companies, but companies like Amazon, Facebook and Google. Companies that consider their software proprietary. Those companies have the R&D budget and economies of scale to re-imagine what a server is. The original article was saying that servers are no longer discreet units, they are clusters and companies like Google are open to re-imagining what that means for the future and are looking more and more at how to tweak the micro architecture to achieve the specific goals of their application. Some of the success of ARM is that it allows customers customization and it empowers them to have control over their products.
