NewsVisual had some interesting information on this deal. According to their research this deal may have initiated at The Council on Foreign Relations. This Knowledge Map www.newsvisual.com/new... shows that several Directors at Blackstone (including Co-Founder Peter Peterson, currently Chairman of the CFR) are currently members along with two Directors at P&G. It's possible that these contacts played a key role in the early stages of the deal.
