    Uncle,

I make mac & cheese from scratch with double extra sharp cheese called for in recipe. Last time I made such, I fried some spam, cut it up and added to the mix before baking.

Hubby, son, and gal friend said to make it again soon.

I'm gonna do it this weekend.

Sans the ketchup, thank you very much.

Hey Snap-on's being paying a dividend since the year I was born and the year "Gone with the Wind" came to the screen.

That's one heck of a long time.

    Bob and Up, Credit Ratings

I just divested myself of CTL a week or so ago. Bought shares in 2011 and probably should have sold when it cut the dividend. Its credit rating is only BB by both S&P and M* I think. Traded it for VZ.

Chowder can correct me here, but I think he will buy REITs and MLPs with credit ratings of BBB and I have a few of those still.

Owning shares in CAT is like being on a roller-coaster. Not a lot of fun for a old gal like me. :-(

  • 'Krafting' Success For My Dividend Growth Portfolio [View article]
    Mike,

Just getting back here after a couple hours hiatus. Your article was the first I read when I opened up Outlook early this morning.

What a delightful read and some of the comments had me thinking about strategy.

My story with KFT, KRFT and MDLZ is similar to bfried1052's above so won't repeat here.

I drip KRFT and sort of hope the price comes down a tad so I'll all be able to benefit from that 16.50 dividend offered shareholders when the deal goes through.

However, if I were considering selling shares, guess I would do so now while the price is elevated.

Best to all of the gang who are krafty holders.

I'm sending your comment to a friend of mine and printing it for my hubby to read. Maybe then he will understand why I do what I do.

    This was classic.

  • The Bear Claws My Dividend Growth Portfolio - Will I Cut And Run? [View article]
    DVK,

Thanks for the comment on Josh Peters over at M*.

I've been subscribing to his "Dividend Investor" news letters and monthly reports and was pleased he reunited the two portfolios back into one. Easier to deal with.

Next to the guys and gals here on SA, he's my go-to guy when it comes to investing.

One of his newest additions to the portfolio is Fastnel (FAST) at $40.84 on March 11th. Current price at 3:55 March 24 is $42.43.

    George,

"This is why we don't really try to market time purchases."

As a DGI investor I should pay more attention to this advice. Thanks for the reminder.

My comment above was really more a comment about irony than a complaint. A couple of weeks ago I placed a limited order on VZ at 46.50 to add to my existing shares. At the time I believe the price was maybe a point or two higher. Silly me, I should have just bought it at the market price. Should I live another 10 years or so, am I going to care what I paid for it in 2015?

Look forward to reading your article on MLPs. Guess I missed that one.

  • Health Care REIT Showdown: March Madness Continues [View article]
    Thanks Brad,

I hold only 2 REITs: O and VTR. These two are the only REITs I intend to hold for the long term. Both are held in a taxable accounts so those ordinary dividends at tax time are not much fun.

    George,

It's a strange thing about "T". I've had this stock in my holdings starting in 2007. Seems every time I decide to buy a few shares the price goes down after the purchase. Equally strange, every time I want add to shares of VZ the price goes up.

No complaints about those juicy (reinvested) dividends from either T or VZ.

As always this was an informative article and I thank you.

Rose, always enjoy reading your posts.

I share your concern regarding CTL, but must confess I still hold it despite its cutting the dividend a few years back.

I'm also concerned about the future for COP although I purchased shares back in 2007 and never considered selling. Guess I'll hold on this time too.

Concerning COPs freezing the dividend in the past. I don't have a date the last time COP did a freeze but according to David Fish's CCC list COP has increased its dividend for the last 14 years. I believe its listed under contenders.
