  • 2 Cheap Drillers In T. Boone Pickens' Portfolio [View article]
Bret, I always enjoy your articles so thanks for this one. I'm in NOV as a LT holding. Not to be critical, but your title (maybe supplied by SA?) notes these two companies are 'drillers', when in fact they are not.

    Regards,

"Would" is the key word. Since it's the past it doesn't matter for now or for tomorrow, etc.

Thank you for the great write-up and the clear, concise information. I've been eyeing NOV for a while and missed my chance in December. This pullback is what I have been hoping for.

  • Buy Coach On Market Overreaction [View article]
So much to like here; 0 LT debt, amazing margins which are NOT eroding, amazing ROE, nice dividend, growth in Asia, expanded focus on men, having a solid handle on digital sales (growing greatly), etc.
And anyone who listened to the conference call should find these statements exciting; "And you will see this holiday a complete expression of the Coach brand. And in essence, what we really want to do is enable the consumer to see Coach in a more complete emotional context, rather than seeing Coach as a great accessory or a great bag we want to first think of Coach as a great brand in accessories, but through a lifestyle lens." and
"we’re now transforming Coach into a global lifestyle brand anchored in accessories. We’ve been strengthening our teams to enhance and build out the Coach experience through product, retail environment, and integrated marketing.
This holistic approach will continue to add excitement and cache to the Coach brand. We’ve demonstrated the ability to offer a lifestyle assortment within categories such as outerwear, shoes, jewelry, watches, eyewear, and fragrance. This next evolution of the brand will encompass a full head to toe expression of the Coach women, including a focused ready-to-wear presentation to inspire our customers with a complete Coach point of view that is relevant to how she lives her life. This new design direction while still grounded in accessories covers all categories and price points including a more elevated product platform. It’s intended to imbue our product with a much more of an emotional context.
You will see elements of this brand strategy implemented through this brand fall with a more complete expression of the new world of Coach next holiday. We plan to convey this dual expression of the Coach brand by telling a complete story about the women and men who are our consumers. We will impact every way the brand touches the consumer including in our stores, window, online and market.

I'm with you on TITN. Good to know omeone else sees what I do in it. I hopped on after the big drop in September and have liked the results since. The only thing that causes me concern is the accumulating debt from all of the acquisitions. We all know what can happen to a company that aggressively expands via acquisitions so I'm watching closely for signs of troubles.

Yes, I do understand that, but I have begun using VL also and wanted to know if you use the latest estimates available (for example recently many covered stocks on VL have moved from 2012 estimates to now having 2013 estimates), i.e. 2013. Thanks!
