here's a sample of a city/region in China... that you probably "didn't know existed!"
...this is ONE OF MANY ...and growing rapidly, compared to the West.
take a look at some of the "growth percentages."
...that's why I'm so strong on my emphasis of China, and WHY DRY BULK is a great sector investment, and as Ocnf is the laggard in this sector, I expect it will have the "biggest relative stock price increase!"

this is GOOD NEWS for the DRY BULK SECTOR and the reason the BDI IS ROCKETING...just a matter of time before big money speculators see the potential and value of Ocnf...

I expect UPGRADE pressure is building...
... for the WHOLE DRY-BULK SECTOR and Ocnf in particular...
...could be anytime now, otherwise the analysts are gonna look "real stupid" ... what with so many segments of the "world economies" showing such "dramatic improvement!"
... well, "don't miss out..."

even JAPAN is recovering... and their prospects were considered worse than ours... what with them extremely based AS A u.s. consumer based EXPORT ECONOMY (Toyota, Sony elecs., etc.)
So, it turns out IN ADDITION TO EMERGING MKT economies to support the dry-bulk sector... THINGS ARE PICKING UP NICELY "also" in the traditional economies of U.S., EUROPE AND JAPAN...
that's why BDI is rocketing....
looking good for dry-bulk and Ocnf...

a 15% gain in one day... gonna look good on a lot of financial webpages tonight...AND GET SOME ATTENTION...
I think maybe we're "gettin' some legs" for a steady MOVE UP...
...MAYBE EVEN A "GAP-UP" TOMORROW!
I think the funds, etc. are COMING ON-BOARD NOW... and not just to daytrade... but to ACCUMULATE FOR A RECOVERY with the dry-bulk sector having one of the best potentials for the biggest gains...

THE "COMEBACK TRAIL!"
essentially it's a bit of a disapointment - at least "accounting wise," that Ocnf took another write-down of asset values. But, I'm not gonna criticize them for that - especially AT THIS TIME AND IN THIS ECONOMIC CLIMATE. You can MAKE THE STOCK AND BALANCE SHEET LOOK GOOD FOR THE INVESTORS... or you can DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO GROW THE COMPANY and insure it's survival.
the good news:
1. another writedown... after-all, IT HAD TO BE CLEARED OFF THE BOOKS EVENTUALLY... that's accounting, etc.
2. .11 cents positive earnings, without discounting for the writedown, IS CLEARLY AN IMPROVEMENT OVER THE 2ND QTR... when THERE STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOSS EVEN WITHOUT THE WRITE-DOWN.
Ocnf freight is clearly ON THE RECOVERY PATH.
3. Consider also... that that .11 would be much GREATER PER SHARE WITHOUT THE DILUTION... based on last years share count...
yeah, everyone cries about the dilution... BUT OCNF DID THIS TO "BUY MORE SHIPS AND GROW THE COMPANY."
WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT... a TEMP FEEL GOOD FOR SHAREHOLDERS ...OR REALITY to survive and grow in a "difficult, BUT RECOVERING ECONOMY...
I like the LATTER... and it looks LIKE WE'RE "OVER THE HUMP" in going back to a RECOVERY.
a. getting "inevitable" write-downs OFF THE BOOKS...
b. a stance WITH POTENTIAL SHARE ISSUE to prevent a "hostile takeover."
c. BDI going up... so contract rates WILL INCREASE as old ones expire... plus more "used ship acquisitions" will be at higher rates DRIVEN BY THE GREATLY INCREASING BDI...
ALL IN ALL... positive steps by Ocnf mgmt IN DEALING WITH A "NEGATIVE WORLD ECONOMY..."
BOTTOM LINE: WE'RE ON THE "COMEBACK TRAIL."
and I'm sure with continued RECOVERY IN WORLD ECONOMY ...the stock will LOOK LIKE A REAL BARGAIN at these price levels...
I expect WE'LL SUDDENLY BECOME "the HOT SECTOR AND STOCK" as the investors standing on the sidelines BOTTOM-FISH...as they jump on the bandwagon of the WORLDWIDE RECOVERY IS REAL!

why Ocnf probably uses "subcontractor" Cardiff for most of it's labor force....
most biz today USES SUBCONTRACTORS... because it's more cost-effective...
more flexible, don't have to pay benefits, etc., so Ocnf is probably doing this to SAVE MONEY... they can always renegotiate or terminate contracts, and don't have to worry about labor problems (strikes, slow-downs... that's likely part of their contract agreement with Cardiff... work slowdown and they can probably break contract and hire someone else, etc...
that's my take on why they sub-contract... has MORE PROS THAN CONS in my opinion...
that's why NJ (my state) subcontracts "much of motor vehicle" ...lot cheaper or they wouldn't be doing it...
don't have a LOT OF EXPENSIVE PENSION/MEDICAL BENEFITS, etc. to WORRY ABOUT OR DEAL WITH...

Ocnf, as well as Drys are following the "contract rate" scheme. This insures "steadier potential revenue" in times of economic uncertainty.
it, for the most part guarantees revenues REGARDLESS OF A significant downturn in the BDI.
1. this is a good scheme in case the economy turns sour, and was a good move for the last two years or so.
2. Now that the BDI is rocketing AND SHOWS NO INDICATION of "once again weakening (like new lows in Dec08)...well, that means:
a. as Ocnf renews contracts... THEY WILL BE AT HIGHER RATES (based on the new higher BDI rates), etc.
b. as Ocnf ACQUIRES MORE SHIPS (used ships, for better value) THESE WILL EITHER BE CONTRACTED AT HIGHER RATES or may float with BDI day-rates.
c. Ocnf DOES NOT HAVE "all ships" under contract for 2010 and beyond... which means these ships will GARNER HIGHER CONTRACT/FLOAT RATES.
ALL IN ALL: the BDI ROCKETING... has plenty of potential GOOD IMPACT MEANING for the future fortunes and prosperity/stability of Ocnf going forward...
that's about it...
so, BDI rocketing! GREAT FOR THE DRY-BULK SECTOR AND GREAT FOR OCNF!
