  • An exec with Ford (F -2.4%) says luxury automakers are pushing up their end-of-year discounts in an effort to grab market share. Conoco Phillips is splitting off the less profitable of the two divisions, theoretically increasing the value and likelihood that the stock price will rise to consensus estimates of its true value. That certainly sounds like a feasible assumption. That is the argument that I have seen other analysts make in favor of COP, yet you are using the same basis as a negative. Additionally, you seem to be greatly in the minority with your logic. I read another news item today that put COP's true value between $100.00 - $145.00 per share. Don't you think that's more of a discrepancy than would be expected from two professional analysts?
