  • Don't Try To Time The Bottom At Pacific Sunwear Of California [View article]
Pacsun started failing when it had a 50/50 gender split store footprint in 2008 when women's business fell 70% and Men's 30%, coupled with disposable fashion retailers H&M and Forever21 forcing them from a 30% private label to 50%+ Private and licenced labels. Add in Zumiez successful market share gains in action sports forcing Pacsun to go more mainstream. Perfect storm!

  • Can PacSun Surf Back To Profitability In Its Competition With Zumiez? [View article]
If your looking for trends go back to 13 to 17 year olds they buy
all the authentic brands in surfing, skateboarding, moto X, snowboarding, BMX and Wake. So if Zumiez has those Brands and customers it's a fit. Girls at Pac Sun have left the store that was one of the reasons for the big lack of sales in the last 4 years it Continues!
18 to 24 year olds at Pacsun are less about Skateboarding, surfing ect ect they just want to look like that lifestyle so they fall into the fashion area. And Fashions are fickle!

Look at the floor plan PS 1/2 girls 1/2 boys. Girls business fell how much? Boys business fell by how? over the last 4 years?
Girls left for H&M and Forever 21... fashion was the key not surf wear.
Your statement on Skateboards is correct for the 13-17 year olds and Action Sports. Pac Sun is a wanna be store not core!
Look at the Zuniez floor plan and merch.

By the numbers tell you that Pacsun is in trouble! Pacsun and Zumiez are two different animals. Your still trying to figure it out what the difference is by looking at the numbers when it has nothing to do with the numbers. But the size of the store, the breakdown of male and female mech, and the brand position of Zumiez the hard core store in the mall. Yes that means they carry hard goods like skateboards, snowboards ect Clothes and shoes. Different then Pacsun.

  • 3 Reasons To Consider DreamWorks Animation [View article]
The animation market is very strong and DWA has preformed quite well over the last 12 years. Today is a different day with both Universal/ Illumination having very low cost production (French animation 65 million) and great results at the box office, Paramount now doing their own animation, Disney/Pixar going strong and FOX doing their own.
You have to look at where is DWA going to be successful with stories, distribution and production. The market is crowded and I have not seen them breaking out with great stories or creativity.
