Pangena- only one problem with your theory. evry other period A] had a sevings rate and in this instance people have no savings, and B] its a credit based economy not a manufacturing one. the key to creating wealth is to take raw materials and turn out a product to sell. Today we ship raw materials overseas and THEY turn it into a finished product and sell it back to us. C] banks and investment banks have not had this kind of leverage that is unsecured since 1929. And as I stated above they are all effectively broke.Go to your bank and ask then for 50-75g's in cash see if they have it in CASH to give you. they would try to talk you out of it and if they finally gave in you would have to wait for an armored truck to bring it. I do not think they can hold it more than 12-24 months before she goes down unless they force all these exotic derivatives to be marked to market immediately

karmaguy , good, I know that already thats why I posted about gata , ther is no damn gold there and the govt can and amy call back all gold in private hands it has been done before as I stated.
and frankie coop not a contradiction if sheeple buy here at hgher prices and then when there is no buyers left what happens? you drop and who waits for the drop? the ones who bought at bottom sold to bagholders at top and ready to buy again at bottom. I felt that was pretty sefl expanatory but since I confused you here is the cycle I thought I described above . smart money buys at panic bottoms sells at euphoric tops , waits for crash in cash and shorts market on way down and then buys at bottom and waits to redistribute at top again . Any questions?

gold will take a nosedive, in a deflationary spiral , and the govt could also call in all the gold like they did during the depression. And by the way gata is trying to actually find out how much gold is in reseves under the freedom of information act and so far has been denied by the courts makes me very suspicious of buying gold.

lets take the last bear market drop which lasted 31 months and the S&P dropped -50.5% is it time to get out of stocks? Inflation is running at 11-16% easy numbers fudged, last jobs report revised higher losses than reported as usual, cattle being slaughtered early cause its cheaper to send to market than feed them thanks to BULLCrap ethanol, and where is the price of beef gonna be when their is a shortage? Gas 3 years ago in NY was 1.90 a gallon now 4 .15 regular and milk as expensive as gas. as far as I am concerned cash is a position and this recession has been engineered. The days of easy credit are gone no one wants to lend to people who have no savings ,who are tapping credit cards to pay for food and gas, who are tapping 401K's. Who also have a snowballs chance in hell of collecting social security . Foreclosuers increasing every month , subprime spreading to prime ,helocs that will default, CDo's , SIV's EIV's, and auction rate securities that have NO VALUE and not being marked to market which is Increasing the chances of a full financial meltdown. go to the SEC website and look at non borrowed bank reserves. They are effectively broke.
www.federalreserve.gov... and look at how the banks are 11 BILLION in the RED and you tell me should we still buying equities to help the Big Boys and old money escape from the pyramid scheme they created in their lust for ever larger returns and now are doing their dammendest to make the American taxpayer foot the bill? What piss's me off is not that they have done this so much ,is that the American sheeple DON"T seem to care or are aware and when you make them aware they look at you like you have 3 heads . The facts are there , look, research and learn. If you wish to enable the rich to get richer by buying the stock they bought from you in the last decline at a 50% or higher markup then go right ahead and buy it from them Bagholders.
