  • BlackBerry's CEO John Chen Installing New Team [View article]
Great call. Listening to a fund CEO on BNN in Canada saying the same thing. Hoping to be cash flow neutral next year? Nice goal. Perhaps cash flow positive the next year? Anyone sitting on 10-15% gains should take their money and run.

  • Chen's Plan To Pull BlackBerry From The Muck [View article]
Good morning for all the longs. Just read the transcript and like a lot of others am quite impressed with Chen. Will be watching to see the business stabilize, the reaction seems to be short covering more than anything fundamental. Will be interesting to see the tax refund number they give later today. If I guess $500M plus the $1B debenture that is the only reason they have a healthy cash position. Without this they would be at roughly $1.7B. But in the end they have the cash so that's a positive. Never thought I'd consider going long in this company again but they have proved they aren't going anywhere.

It was small and to cover a tax bill. Read an analyst report. They issued more shares - a strength for the company which many others before them have done.

Andy, look at their financials and EPS guidance. You missed this one. That's fine, just move on. Don't hate the company, hate the markets.

Thanks for being the voice of reason here. Those who missed the boat will look for any reason to spell doom and gloom and wish the stock price to drop.

  • BlackBerry Is NOT Worthless [View article]
The only stock on my watch list that is red after the Fed announcement. Was pumped last week and into this week. Now comes the dreaded dump through earnings. How many quarters in a row have we seen this?

  • What Hedge Fund Analysts Are Saying About BlackBerry [View article]
What makes you think they have that kind of $$$ to spend? Hard enough getting Apple to buy back shares and they are sitting on 60B. Everyone will be watching to see how much cash they actually have left. Who knows, maybe they got the tax credit and cash out of Venezuela and can surprise.

On the contrary I'm not short Andy. Have been long in the past rode it up but stayed in the saddle a bit too long. Although not nearly as long as we have come back down. I know the company well and the financials and also know the federal and provincial gov't as of two weeks ago will NOT intervene. Phone sales are terrible as indicated by the write downs even though I would agree they are solid phones. Now the global sales head is gone and a new strategy into the consumer market will take time. I would argue carriers are dumping the phones more than people dumping carriers to get the phones. Cash bleed has been significant. I would agree they are to going bankrupt, they have cleaned house to make sure of that. All you have to tell me is that they are safe because the gov will back them - wrong. And then that their phones are selling well- again wrong.

Right. Gutsy call. It was at that level for what 5-10 minutes. Why didn't you ride it back up from 44 to 54? For a guy that has said to been long then short at exactly all the right moments in the last 3 months did you not see this SP 500 bump coming? You think it is going higher then lower or just lower?

Comparing FB to large, slow growth companies in established industries shows my point exactly. Apples to oranges at best. You see it one way but have no skin in the game although you have made money in the name, I see it another way and am sitting on nice returns in a short amount of time. I appreciate the risk in valuation you point out but I don't see any situation where your above scenario is played out with the information that is coming out of the company. Should that change, I will have to re-evaluate.

You just don't get it. Until they under deliver on revenue and guidance figures you should just keep your views on how a "website" can have such a large market cap to yourself. And FYI- change the setting on FB about email notifications if you don't want emails.

So many bullish retail investors. How can you possibly be so confident with a company that is expected to post a 44% drop in revenue. Please enlighten me with how they are going satisfy the street to raise their SP. Do not answer with assets and value. How are they going to drive revenue in the short term and get back to positive EPS?

That's it moon, keep shorting. And if not shorting, keep bashing because you wish you caught the train before it left the station. You can suspect whatever you want. Revenue and guidance is all I care about at the moment.
