I have been a self employed individual and fired myself 2.5 years ago.
I have been trying to learn how to protect and grow a modest portfolio in order to provide an income for my wife and I. The last 1.5 years have been a concern as I have been mostly out of the market and have been using up capital .
I have been flopping from a total return asset allocation investment policy to going to dividend income/value.
I call myself EconStu because I am a student looking for guidance and despite a lot of effort have not found a solution.
I had a written IPS using asset allocation along the lines of fundadvice ultimate portfolio but after reading Vitaly Katsenelson I became mindful that with
potential sideways market that the buy/hold approach would not be as in the past. As I looked into this I read some of Ed Easterlings information at Crestmont where he talks about this being the time to row verse when in a secular bull where the buy and hold "sail" would work better.
