  • Dump Nokia's Sad Ringtone, Buy BlackBerry [View article]
The author forgot to mention that Nokia rose 15% before the drop on the Tuesday and then regained the 7% drop by the end of the week.
    Very amateurish attempt at analysis.

  • Key Items To Consider For Velti's May 13, 2013 Earnings Report [View article]
My take from the conference cal was that the company was mismanaged before Mr Ross arrived, this will no longer be the case and if we get past the next 6 months I would expect the CEO's role in the company to diminish which will be good for shareholders.

Mr Ross came across well I thought, the first 3 moths of his employment and reputation are enough for my bet to continue.....lays off and cost savings....more focused on revenue :)

  • Aboard The S.S. Ballmer [View article]
Nokia will be selling 10 million lumias per quarter by the end of this year, the only android manufacturer making money is Samsung.
Nokia were late to the party and going with Android would have killed them IMO, WP8 is starting to gain traction and will continue to grow.
Enough of looking at past mistakes, the future is looking brighter for Nokia no matter how much people dislike Microsoft.

    Shocking article IMO.
Nokia are now starting to come out of the dark, a lot more to do but progress is being made.
Nokia had no choice but to go with Microsoft or risk becoming another android loser.
When the Xbox was released it was nothing but bad news for the first two years and then the creep effect really took hold and Microsoft had a winner, I expect the same to happen with the Windows Phones now that Nokia at long last have products that people want again.

  • Velti (VELT -2.9%) files an F-3 to sell 16.5M shares on behalf of insiders. The filing comes with shares of the mobile ad agency down 56% YTD, and down 81% over the last 12 months. (Q1/2013 guidance) Update: As commenter James Sands points out, the shares will be sold by accredited investors who recently purchased them from Velti at $1.50/share (25% below Velti's current price) through a private placement. [View news story]
Mr Ross is the game changer, my bet is on him and Veltis IP being utilized correctly, the lay offs were a good indicator of what is to come, a more streamlined, lean organisation with some flexibility to ramp up new opportunities quicky....I am one of the few to have made money from Velt before getting out,,,,,,,i got back in at 1.62 recently.......patience and luck can help Velti, do the investors have the patience and does Velti have the luck, since Mr Ross had highlighted the weakness's very early in his position,,,,,I would view this as a last chance to clean the company and do things correctly and transparently from here on in.....if that does happen just watch the shares seize up..........and watch the calls fr the head of the CEO.

I think the last call told investors that Velti would be operating to a different accounting standard from here in, if they are given the chance I expect they will take it.

Looks like a healthy dose of financial prudence will be exerted until the books balance by Mr Ross.

A bet on Velti is a bet on Mr Ross.
At these prices I think a bet on Mr Ross is warranted.

    Massive backlash against fish oil??

This is one of the market currents on SA at the moment.

Omega Protein (OME +15.7%) soars after its earnings beat. Profit margins rose to 24.7% during Q1, up 420bps sequentially and 310bps Y/Y — this was the third straight quarter of consolidated gross margin expansion. Sales of OmegaActiv (concentrated fish oil) grew during the period, underscoring progress in the human nutrition segment, where revenues rose 32% sequentially. On the call, both the company and D.A. Davidson's Timothy Ramey mentioned OmegaActive's SupplySide Insight Award (with Swanson) as evidence of OME's opportunities going forward.

  • Stephen Elop had to hear from disgruntled investors unhappy with his ongoing commitment to Windows Phone at Nokia's (NOK +2.4%) shareholder meeting. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Please switch to another road," said one of them. The criticism is aired as Walmart begins selling the Lumia 521 (runs on T-Mobile USA's network) for an unsubsidized $130. Both Walmart's site and many stores are out of stock, but limited supply (an issue with the Lumia 920 and 920T launches) could be a factor. [View news story]

They could not see what was happening the whole time it was plummeting and now cannot see what is happening that it is slowly recovering.
