  • Apple Set To Lose Big Time In EU State Aid Case [View article]
It is interesting that the headline seems lifted from the Daily Mail. IF there is a partial repayment Apple most decidedly will not lose "big time." By that time the Apple pile of cash will be so large, it will go unnoticed by investors.

Traders will play the sucker sellers of course. (as they are doing today with all the endless Apple negative articles.)

  • Will Apple's 'Bendgate' Give Samsung, BlackBerry An Opening? [View article]
My guess is all of those complaints are rigged, there are actually no real complaints.

9 or 500, it is insignificant statistically anyway. There is someone out there who can break any product.

  • What 'Bendgate' Means For Apple [View article]
It is obviously a hoax by someone either trying to manipulate the stock price or an prankster. The phone is as strong as any of the type, certainly larger and not always appropriate to pocket. But I have personally examined and frankly tried to bend them at the Apple store. Saw others trying to bend them, and put them in pockets. Apple of course does not care what is done to display models, so they have suffered a lot of tries at bending.

  • New iPhone Shows There Is Still Shine On This Apple [View article]
"Apple's ability to generate future growth will depend on taking market share away from Samsung."

I rather doubt that it will be that company specific, since Samsung is clearly going to be under a great deal of pressure from Chinese manufacturers, and their own internal issues.

  • How Many Android Tablets? [View article]
The problem with the iPad is it just works too well and lasts too long. I may finally replace my iPad original, simply because the processor is too slow to run the new iOS, but it is not because the iPad itself has in any way degraded, in fact because of improvements even in older apps meant to run on iOS 5 it just keeps getting better.

It still does Airplay perfectly so I watched this year's Tour de France through my iPad onto my Apple TV. Ditto with YouTube, HBO, etc, they all run just fine.

The only apps that suffer are high speed gaming apps, which are amazing on my GF's Mini coupled with the Apple TV.

I still carry my client portfolio on my iPad, and no one seems to know what model it is -- they just like it.

Despite how great my iPad has been, the iPad Mini we have is so much nicer, the magnetic folding cover a thing of beauty. Other tablets simply look like junk next to it, they may work, but there is nothing elegant about them.

  • If Tim Cook Does Not Care About The 'Bloody ROI', Does He Care About The 'Bloody Stock Price'? [View article]
Jezz what a thread. I will be giving SA a little vacation.

  • Apple's Next Few Weeks, Seen By Market-Makers. What Then? [View article]
"A quick clue comes from daily trading activity in the stock before and after the split. Before, AAPL traded over 77 million shares a day, after, only 50 million. The daily handle before was worth $43 billion; since the split: $4.5 billion."

I think everyone has noticed this trend of extremely thin trading. Everyone seems to be sitting on the sidelines, and no one selling very low. No bargains available, and after Google's "kitchen sink" IO conference, Apple seems like the only game in town for the fall. If the iwatch has FDA approval it will go ballistic.

  • Apple: Some Appear Too Optimistic [View article]
You are right of course, but that $700 price, 22 months ago was frankly nuts. But many have still made money and are now sitting in profit, even though they missed the 700 sell. But if one held straight through, it was, and is still, tough.

  • Amazon: Fire Phone Is A Flop [View article]
Bought my iPhone 4 from Virgin for about $350 still going strong, I pay $30 month for 400 minutes and unlimited data, although the data can, in theory, slow after 20 gigs, but never has. The iPhone, Apple TV combination has allowed me to cut the cord on cable TV. So really the iPhone is free.

  • Apple: Some Appear Too Optimistic [View article]
It is often hard to hold any stock that slides a little down, more or less constantly, and today (24th) was a real mind screw, with the stock looking like it might finally buck the trend and go up 1%, only to be crushed again at .61% down.

My take is July is not going to be pretty for the stock, many traders will chew away at it, so you have to decide, it is not going to likely be a pleasant ride, but I have always regretted selling Apple. (think owning a thousand shares in the teens)

  • Why iPhone 6 Won't Reverse Apple's Market Share Decline [View article]
There seems to be a lot of support for the idea that people will never buy a new iPhone -- ever.

  • Why iPhone 6 Won't Reverse Apple's Market Share Decline [View article]
Agreed. Currently Apple continues to dominate the actual smart phone market, they will never compete with the companies making junk [semi-smart phones] for the low end of the market. The hardware, and gimmick wars are over, it is all about innovative software now.

  • Amazon - Fire Phone Consistent With The Goal To Reinforce Its Ecosystem [View article]
    This article is pretty obvious.

I am not an Android vs Apple type of investor, but to me this is just one more reason to see Amazon losing more money -- so that as an investor their stock no longer appears interesting. Stock got a nice bump yesterday, gave up most of it today.

Plenty of time to buy Amazon if one wants to go long, otherwise it is only an option play.

  • High Time For Investors To Buy Into Samsung [View article]
Read this before you invest for the long haul:
Samsung is so dependent on the low end Android smartphone market that the Chinese newcommers would make me a very nervous investor.

  • A High Income Portfolio For A More Prosperous Retirement [View article]
Rather like my portfolio, although I have no Reits and only one MLP. I do continue to own high yield bonds, and some high risk equities to push my returns. Nice article -- good comments.
