  • Kinder Morgan deal risks unpleasant tax surprise for some investors [View news story]
Could these taxes be classified as long term gains if you held EPB over one year?
    Thanks in advance.

I bet Renu is hurting today along with the rest of the shorts. Win is up 33% premarket.

OK, I'll clarify my comment since it received so many sub-comments. Cramer said he believed the div. was safe but he thought there were better stocks to buy. I think Cramer was looking for stocks with more growth.
Since I'm in WIN for dividends I feel Cramer's comment was a signal for me to hang on to my position. I'll think a little harder when and if it reaches 12.

Carmer just mentioned it yesterday claiming the div. was safe. Some people will say that's not much of a endorsement but I think he has more creditability then Renu

  • Bank Of America: A $17 Billion Bombshell In The Making? [View article]
I saw a headline on CNBC but did not hear the story but a big stock holder wants Citi to fight the Fed. Now I have a question, would BofA be allow to kick in for a defense fund? If Citi would fight and win maybe BofA's problems would go away besides I believe BofA has a stronger case.

Great article George I have both stocks and I live in the FE service area. I do not think FE is a very well run company but I liked the entry point and I like the fact I collect the div. while waiting for it to hit 42.

  • Bank Of America: A $17 Billion Bombshell In The Making? [View article]
    from the New York Times:
The bank’s resistance to a deal stems partly from a debate over mortgage securities sold by Merrill Lynch, the investment house Bank of America purchased during the depths of the financial crisis. Bank of America has argued that it would have avoided liability altogether if the government had not pressured it to go through with the acquisition. For the Justice Department, the sticking point is the size of the settlement and the method of distributing the money.

I'm glad BofA is using the above in their argument. The above should teach BofA and other Co. to not play ball with the government. They will stick the ball and the bat up your butt.

I agree with what you say except for Countrywide, it was only Merrill that the government forced them to buy after Lewis decided to back out of the deal. I have often wonder why the government did not go after individuals rather than company's that helped them save the whole fiscal structure. Angelo Mozilo is the one that should spend some time in jail. I believe if they would jail the executives responsible for the collapses it would make the future executives think twice about risky ventures.

  • Analyst says Gilead is a buy after yesterday's drop [View news story]
Gayle I agree with you and here is what Yee really said (from Barrons):
Bottom line, we believe the pullback is a buying opportunity because Q2 Sovaldi should be strong above $3B, it could push 2015E run-rate to $12B and well above consensus of $10B, all potentially driving earnings power of $8-10 EPS next year and thus Gilead could trade at 8-10x P/E. Consensus thinks HCV sales go bad in 2016 (HCV market demise) but we have said we believe long-term market is more sustainable, OUS is a significant opportunity, and Merck’s deal validates rational pricing…thus we think the demise is greatly exaggerated. After all, who pays $3.85B for a Phase I drug in a market that presumably will be dead in 3 years?
