  • Who Audits Alibaba? [View article]
In my limited but cogent experience. One country two systems. Several languages. Educated Chinese asians speak Chinglish, with wide variations. Street language and the first language on Hong Kong is Cantonese. Official language is Mandarin. There are oral exams to check that people speak Beijhing Mandarin. This doesn't work, so even if people from different parts of China think they are both speaking Mandarin, there are local variations. The pictograms they employ add to the confusion as there are so many of them. Don't believe the 400 symbols, that is a figure picked straight out of Michel Thomas about how to read the New York Times. There are around 40-50000 pictograms. We once asked a couple of people with masters degrees (in Librarianship, but hey) to read our gas bill as it had arrived in Mandarin. They couldn't do it as they had never seen the pictograms. I figured it out by comparing it to another one I had previously in English. So while I am certain PWc are a reputable firm, unless all their internal papers are in English(ish) there is always going to be some difficulty in a Hong Kong trained auditor checking accounts in a town a few thousand miles away.

  • What If Lowflation Isn't A Trap? [View article]
I don't get this low inflation helps people pay off their debts thing. In the 70s my first house cost £3000.00. I had a mortgage. Now I could pay it off easily, and some months my credit card which I pay off every month is bigger than that. Inflation helps debtors pay off their debts. The trap is if they keep increasing the debt. Inflation helps debtors because they pay off the loans with money which due to inflation has declined in terms of the wealth it represents. Dollars are tokens, just like bit coin or any other currency, wealth is what the tokens will buy.

  • A Timely Warning: Johnson & Johnson May Correct With The Stock Market [View article]
is that all articles or just the crazy ones, and how do you know which is crazy?
You obviously still read them. SA has given me much thought and I find the replies as helpfull as the articles, except of course the sycophantic ones. I have avoided J&J due to litigation issues for some time now and agree with that portion of the Author's thesis. I don't know if they liability insurance in place but I would bet the premium if it covered known items at all would be too odious to pay so I have no holdings. I watch J&J merely to see if a decision I made two years ago proves to be correct. So far I have done better elsewhere, but who knows into the future. As to market correction, I am not at all certain it will happen this year. I am not at all certain it won't, the noise calling for an MC is getting louder so it will obviously eventually become a self fullfilling prophecy as it always does.

  • Stocks: Thank Goodness It's Tuesday [View article]
this was explained to me a long time ago by a stockbroker friend. People think about their investments over the weekend, look at Friday's bear prices and on Monday try to buy at Friday's prices. The orders fail in general. On Tuesday they get impatient and buy at market. If you are going to sell on a Yuesday, wait till after coffee break.

you don't like us, we don't like you, we will no longer do business. See who blinks first, V, MA or Walmart. My money is not on the person losing the convenience of not paying cash into their bank.
