  • BlackBerry: The Rise Of The Fallen [View article]
Yup, no mention of Samsung. He must have wrote this article a few days ago not knowing about the big announcement date. Who follows a stock and not know about a big announcement day? Especially one called "Investor Day".

At some point, Knox customers will have to ask themselves why they don't just go ahead and get BlackBerry phones if BlackBerry makes Knox more secure.

Dec 12th date will be rumored about for the next month.

And then the shorts will claim that promises were broken because nothing happened.

And I would like to hear David's solution that would have been better than everything listed above, but BlackBerry wouldn't listen to him.

    @Cliff Hilton

May I suggest an Otter Box or something with a little protection.

Or, just stop punching the screen, it doesn't affect what is being viewed.

The sale does not apply to the Classic, Passport or the latest Porsche BlackBerry device. There will be a new device (or two) in about 4-5 months. They need to get the Z10s and Z30s out of inventory for when that device comes out. The Classic basically replaces the Q10 and selling cheap Q5 helps get more users on board who will upgrade to a better version.

So, Dav...sfinvestor, this is not the only way they are moving stuff.

The Classic basically negates the need for the Q10.
The "belt" isn't that much of a factor if you have already decided to go with a Q device.

@David653 That's been the "sale" price since launch. Good luck getting one at that price.

"She love the old Bold device which is like the Classic. "

Which is like saying a Porsche 911 from the '80s is like a new 911.

@Randal James Did you just really determine if an article was positive or negative by whether or not it was thumbed up or down?

OK, so they want to know the service information of their product. That does not mean that they will constantly ping the toaster for that information. The toaster would only need to handle the information when something is triggered from the toaster. That isn't going to be happening all the time.

And again, the device itself doesn't need to route a transmission through a BlackBerry device to send information directly to the manufacturer. That would only be the case if BlackBerry insisted that an app on one of their devices handles the transmission. While that would be something Apple does, it isn't something that BlackBerry or QNX does.

"the data flow will be overwhelming for all but the largest and best equipped data centers with state-of-the-art analytics software"

Why do the "things" need to go through a data center to talk to the other "things"?
Can you not have a local wi-fi connection and not go out to the world wide web in order to talk to things connected on that local wi-fi?

It needs to tell the refrigerator that it burnt the bread and that it will need to add it to the grocery list.

I'm trying to figure out why KIA thinks the toaster needs to go to Ontario and back to talk to the refrigerator when they are both connected locally either via BlueTooth or WiFi.
