  • FMSA Holdings: Ripe For A Buy At Quiet Period Expiration [View article]
morgan stanley, goldman, baird, keybanc and cowan are all already out with research yesterday 10/28. no positive impact on the stock.

the 40 day quiet period only applies to co's with over 1 billion in annual revenues otherwise its a 25 day quiet period. that explains why the research is already out.

  • Natural Gas And Commercial Transportation: The Hatching Egg [View article]
    Terrific article, thank you.

What are your thoughts on the federal highway excise tax for LNG? Currently,LNG is taxed based on volume (like diesel) while CNG is taxed on energy content. LNG and diesel taxed equally based on volume creates a huge disadvantage to switch over from diesel. Did you come across any info regarding this tax in your research and if so what are your thoughts?

  • Insiders Step Up To Buy This 6% Yielder [View article]
When total holdings are over 1 million shares, a 10,000 share buy order is not material and is more likely meant to signal the market and inspire a false sense of confidence to current shareholders.

At best, these purchases are non-events. But they should not be labeled under "7 reasons EVEP should reward long term income investors at $51 a share" category. Cross it off the list.

  • Insiders Step Up To Buy This 6% Yielder [View article]
The insider transactions in April and May that you cite are not anywhere close to being material or significant transactions. In fact, it appears theses insiders are trying to signal the market.

The chairman, John Walker bought 12,000 shares in April and May. His total stake is 1,050,224 shares. 12k shares is not a noteworthy transaction whatsoever.

Mark Houser, the President and CEO, owns 459,277 shares. His open market purchase's of 3500 shares in April and May are even less significant.

Mr. Jensen, your commentary is extremely misleading and dangerous to potential investors. This stock has been crushed of late due to their significant shale exposure. Not a buy until natural gas prices stabilize.

  • Fuel Systems Solutions: Share Implosion Not Justified [View article]
you might get a little relief bounce to the 19 handle but this stock is going back to 15 in the next few weeks. the bubble has burst for the natural gas vehicle plays (CLNE, WPRT, and FSYS), lots of trapped longs and more downside to come. sell all bounces. you can always re enter this trade in 6 months when the fundamentals look better for the group.

  • Westport Innovations Discussion On Cummins Conference Call [View article]
Add this call to the list of reasons to own Westport in long term accounts.

However, what most bulls need to remember is that WPRT currently does not make money and they will remain a "show me stock" for the foreseeable future. They don't expect to turn a profit for at least two years. Nobody should expect this stock to trade back into the upper 30's or low 40's without a significant catalyst.

Poor commentary from the CEO of Cummins does not qualify as that catalyst. Sounds more like grasping at straws from trapped longs which I am one of.

  • How Clean Energy Fuels Could Become A $200 Stock [View article]
Andrew Littlefair, the President and CEO, sold 200,000 shares on 2/27/2012. Represents about half of his stake.

This guy basically founded the company along with Pickens and the fact that he is liquidating his stake into the recent price rise is highly concerning. Small sales here and there would not be a big deal but insider selling of this magnitude has to raise some red flags. Why is he not a long term believer?

  • Westport Innovations Is Weakening - Take Profits And/Or Short It [View article]
Sounds to me like this author has already taken a great deal of pain on the short side or perhaps is looking for a long entry on a pullback.

    1. Trying to pick a top based on non-existent fundamentals is a dangerous game. In fact, shorts might be the the very thing this stock needs to take a new leg higher.

    2. Not mentioning the potential for WPRT to be acquired by CMI or NAV is irresponsible. CMI has plenty of cash on hand and acquiring WPRT now for their technology, before they have actual earnings power, would make perfect sense. Good luck with your short when WPRT gets taken over for $65 share.

    3. Falling natural gas prices are a huge net positive for WPRT each and every day. The lower the price of gas, the more it makes sense for the major players in trucking to make the switch from diesel to natural gas burning engines.

WPRT has made a huge a run, and while a pullback to the low 40's seems likely, shorting this stock will be a recipe for monster losses.

  • I'm Sticking To My Guns And Selling Starbucks [View article]
i disagree. yes, its a pricey valuation but expensive stocks tend to get more expensive in this market.
Starbucks is growing like a weed in Europe and Asia. i was recently in the Dubai airport (busiest place on earth), the longest line was the line at Starbucks. International growth is not fully priced in.

in NYC, every Starbucks on every block is crowded with caffeine addicts waiting to get their fix. i have to visit my local Starbucks during off peak time to avoid the 10 min wait.

this stock can easily outperform over the balance of 2012 and see the low 60's.
