  • CVR Refining Earnings Estimate Q4'14  [View article]
Dear Gary and other readers of this post, my question is:-- of the three (3) refining MLP's:- CVRR, ALDW & NTI, which one in your opinion represents the best buy now, and why you hold that opinion?

My take (ie opinion) is CVRR because it is the closest to it's 52-week bottom / the furthest away from it's 52 week high, compared to the other two. It had the lowest distribution for the 3Q, 2014, which may be the significant factor that drove and continue to drive the share price significantly south, compared to the other two refiners, not withstanding the demise of share prices across the sector due to falling crude oil.

The question still remains:- which is the best buy today and why?

blueice & mjtroll1:- Thank you both for your comments, they are most appreciated. Seems that there are here are two choices:-- don't touch UPL with a 20 foot pole; or if your are an ultimate supreme optimist or confirmed contrarian, await the bottoming of the share price, before buying. I am not certain if I fall into any of those two groups!!

  • An Appetizing REIT With 9% Icing On The Cake  [View article]
Brad, thanks a million for this piece, the excellent research and details are most appreciated. Even more to the bone, so to speak, as there was much said about meat , potatoes and gravy, even more to the bone for me, was the your coining / your use of a new term in the sub-section of the article :- What makes me cautious about NorthStar:

Will this be an incubator and spin off REITs?
The number and amount of transactions, will I get ARCP'd?"

"ARCP''d is a appropriate, pragmatic, succinct term, which says quite a lot in one word. You must been a fore-runner among the nominees for this year's Oscar award for the investing term of the year! I can say with all certainty and grief, that I have been ARCP'd by that stock those acronym bears a very close resemblance to you new investing term. All best wishes for landing the coveted award in 2014. On behalf of the SA reading community, thnaks the numerous well-wrtten and highly informative articles.

Brad, you noted that CTRE shares declined 25% over a week ago and they closed on Friday at $11.45 per share. My question is:- Are you concerned about this fall in share price? Having mentioned it, you made no further comment was made about it. Are you concerned about it, if not, why?

Bret, UPL is now selling for some $10 - $11 below the August 2014 share price. Many are concerned , quite understandably, with the continuing demise of oil prices and the large debt load of the company. My question is :- At this stage, do you still consider UPL a good seasonal play or a value play?

  • Stable Dividends To Continue For Ship Finance International  [View article]
Dear Economics Fanatic thanks for your article. One question :- The first reason you give for your bullishness that the dividend can be sustained is quote 'The first factor to be bullish on Ship Finance International is the company's current order backlog. As of September 2014, the company had an order backlog of $4.6 billion with clients such as Seadrill (NYSE:SDRL), North Atlantic Drilling (NYSE:NADL), Deep Sea Supply (OTCPK:DSSPF) and Frontline (NYSE:FRO), among others."
The question is :- given the present and near term price of oil, the falling price share of SFL, are you still bullish that the dividend can be sustained?
    i
Question to other readers:- would like to hear our comments on SFL dividend at this stage.,is it sustainable?
