      Whither Canada's Tar Sands?
I know we(USA) needs to give tax breaks to "big oil" cos. for the use of R&D. I mean, check the record that is what Russia has done to up production and it has worked. We will never come to the point where we will not need oil. We may not use it for gasoline as other forms of fuel become available, but petroleum distilates are used in production of just about everything. So to become oil independent we need to lift the ban and drill anywhere there is oil, onshore or offshore. We have foreign countries drilling off our(USA) coasts now, so why shouldn't we help ourselves by reaping in the off shore "black gold"??I could go on and on but McCain has it right give tax breaks to the oil companies for R&D and start drilling. Politics make the tax break sound like it is giving money to the already rich CEO's,CFO's, etc. of these companies. When in reality it will help us(USA) become more energy independent quicker.

S&P Skeptical GM-Chrysler Deal Could Boost Liquidity
If you'd check GM's books, GM would have money cash on hand If the CEO, CFO,CIO, and every other anonym had not started filling their pockets with money when they saw GM was already bankrupt. I think Chrysler can stand, but GM is dead in the water and I do not think taxpayers should bail GM or Ford out, because just like the top brass at Goldman Sachs they do not know how to spend the money to help the company, just to help themselves. Instead of taxpayers bailing out all of these companies, the top officals should have their banking accounts froze, their assets sold and the big compensation monies put back into the companies to start over. I am sure you can find executive managers, marketing managers, and financial managers would can do a better job of running a company for a lot less money. Especially if you find them from the communities, counties, and states these companies effect the most.

Energy Stocks That Will Grow Even if U.S. Markets Decline
I spoke with my power company about building coal to oil(C-T-O) plants. First one in Appalaciah near the coal reserves, If that C-T-O plant hit it off build in or near the Green River Basin. They did listen to my suggestion but then declined to resume talks. Seems everyone wants the USA to be non-oil dependant, but no body wants to play the game. This includes our government, who wants to tax big oil on it's profits, not thank them and give them tax incentives to search for new oil fields. Tax their profits; profits will fall, which means refining outputs will decrease. The USA should be like Russia or Iran, who have given their oil companies HUGE tax breaks to explore for oil even if it means removing a few carribou. Also building new refineries which we have not done since the 1960's
or'70's. The oil wells that sit idle, start them up, start searching for oil off our coasts, start getting the oil from the shale rock, build C-T-O plants. We(USA) are the Saudia Arabia of coal. Don't get me started on the global warming BS!!!

      Some Thoughts on Ethanol's Success
If you own a "flex-fuel" vehicle you will discover that the advantages of usig ethanol is zero. A friend of mine stated he gets approximently 25% more MPG using gasoline over ethanol. So ethanol has to be over $3 cheaper per gallon (at today's prices)to make it economical to buy. Ethanol is a government play, big politics on huge corporation farms, we will always be "hooked" on oil.
