Apple's Strategy Of Built-In Obsolescence [View article]
I am running WinXP (and sometimes Windows7) on my MacBook Pro using VMware (because certain software companies have their heads up their Intuit); and find that both versions of the Windows OS run better on my MacBook than they did on my HP or Sony laptops (each of which were cutting edge tech at the time).

I purchased my MacBook Pro in December 2012 after getting tired of having to replace my Windows based laptops every year. I made the decision after having purchased a Mac Mini in October 2012, to replace my daughter's 2005 iMac after the USB ports stopped working. Although I was pretty ticked off when I was told it would cost circa $900 to replace the iMac's logic board, I quickly and happily purchased the Mac Mini when I realized the iMac has worked perfectly for over 7 years (something I couldn't say for any Window's based PC I had ever owned). Having made the switch to Apple computers, I can honestly say I would never purchase a Window's based PC again. Granted, Apple products cost a little more, but you get what you pay for; and if I choose to upgrade my MacBook in the near future, I will be doing so by choice and not because it's a boat anchor.
This article is a perfect example of Betteridge's Law of Headlines.
"... any headline which ends in a question mark can be answered by the word 'no'. The reason why journalists use that style of headline is that they know the story is probably bollocks, and don’t actually have the sources and facts to back it up, but still want to run it." - Ian Betteridge
Maybe a better headline would have been: "Was Charles H. Duell right?: Has nothing new been invented over the past 113 years?"

Agreed! It's tedious having to go through my inbox every day to weed through the mountain of SeekingAlpha articles written about APPL to find the one or two that contain a glimmer of reason. Not pointing fingers at anyone - just saying.

My comment wasn't directed to you or this article, but was meant as support to another comment regarding the many people who have never used an AAPL product and don't understand why there is no comparison to PCs. I think I just hit reply under the wrong comment.

Go buy a MacBook and start using it. And once you are hooked on the quality of the product, I'll give you the name of the place where I donated all my PCs.
