  • AppData's "Top Gainers" list for Facebook apps provides a bit of good news for beaten-down Zynga (ZNGA +1.9%). The Ville, a game Zynga launched in June to much fanfare, has seen its monthly active users (MAUs) rise 56% this week to 40.3M. Also, aging FarmVille's MAUs have risen 48% to 27.5M. Electronic Arts' (EA) SimCity Social (previous) has seen MAUs jump 44% to 12.7M.  [View news story]
These numbers are very skewed as Zynga right now is doing a major cross promotion with existing customers to play The Ville to get virtual items in the other games they play. So lets say you play Farmville if you play The Ville and get to a certain level you will get a free premium virtual item so as you can see these are not new ZYNGA customers just ones they have already playing the new game. This is what I mean by how Zynga fudges the numbers to make it look like they have alot of users when in fact all they seem to be getting is existing ones bouncing from game to game to get free stuff Zynga is offering them. I would love to see how many of these players are not already Zynga users and have these numbers certified as the way they have it now are very misleading to advertisers and investors.

  • Why I've Changed My Mind About Zynga [View article]
You are right Kevin and Zynga would of never raised money for these victims if it was for the players begging them to help the victims. It was the players who begged ZYnga do raise money for them and we used our blogs and pages on Facebook to pressure them into doing it. Zynga management didn't want to do it.

Zynga has also never fully disclosed how much money went to the victims or charities. We know as players that double was raised but we cant prove it.

Exactly Kevin. if you look at the games they are coming out with now are acquisitions (OMGPOP) or they team up with another company to market an existing well loved game like Slingo. All their games are based on games others already did, Zynga just took what they did and changed the code and graphics so they didn't get caught.

Zynga is only as big as they are due to the players and the players ability to get the word out on their addicting games. I spoke about this in my interview with Forbes right before the IPO.

  • Why I've Changed My Mind About Zynga [View article]
I think everyone really needs to look at the user numbers more closely and not concentrate on the Monthly users as much but concentrate on the Daily users as this will give you a better picture of what is really happening.
The way the numbers are now if someone just logs into a game and does nothing that counts as a monthly user. The way the daily numbers are reported is that if a player logs in and completes a function within the game they are a daily user. So Zynga is reporting just monthly numbers to make it look better.
You also have to look at how many of these players are new to Zynga and not already existing players from other Zynga games.Zynga is famous for cross game promotions to pump up sagging games numbers. So the question for investors is how many are new non Zynga players coming to play the games as this will tell real future growth.
I also think Zynga really needs to have independently certified numbers for the games as Facebook doesn't fully report the game numbers and you can see that for yourself right on AppData by comparing the charts. So be leery.

  • JPMorgan and BofA are upgrading beaten-down Zynga (ZNGA +0.6%) following a Q1 report that featured mixed user data and soaring R&D expenses. Both firms are encouraged by Zynga's growing mobile footprint - boosted by the OMGPOP acquisition, but also by Zynga-developed games such as Scramble with Friends and Zynga Poker. BofA adds PC bookings growth was better than some stats implied.  [View news story]

  • Method To The Zynga Madness [View article]
I think come Valentines Day, when Zynga reports their numbers after the bell, alot of people are going to have their hearts broken as they find that Zynga revenues have dropped to very low levels. The Love fest will be over then.

The stock will drop and everyone will finally see what everyone outside of Wall Street sees, they are just a company that makes game with inflated numbers thanks to Facebook who doesn't report them properly to fully inform EVERYONE what the real picture is.

The players are not spending the money on the games anymore, they only play the games until they cost money and they stop playing and find the new flavor of the week.

I am not saying Zynga doesn't put out good games, even if they do copy them from other companies and claim them as their own, I am saying they are way over valued and need to do alot of work to get the players to start spending money again. IMO this stock at best should valued at $6 a share. I guess we will see if I am right on Valentines Day.

  • Why Is Zynga Held To A Double Standard By The Media? [View article]
I never said they didn't make games that weren't enjoyable because they are in the beginning but as your progress they become more like work with all the content they release on top of each other. You can have 4 -6 events going on at one time thus removing the fun factor. Remember they are supposed to be fun and a game. Games are still fun right ?

I do tend to agree they grew too fast and they were never able to catch up and get back to their original game plan and had to wing it. But that does not mean you forget or neglect fixing the games and neglect the paying customer base as Zynga has done. While a majority of their regular employees try to help they are hindered by upper management and this myself and many others who cover their games have heard first hand by the current & former employees. Mark Pincus himself was quoted as saying he doesn't care about his retaining his current paying customer base but feels the income will come by gaining new players with new releases. Well they wont be able to do that much longer the way the company is being run as is. Reputation is everything in gaming. Change must come if they are to succeed.

As for PAC this was created by Zynga themselves to get feedback from the players to help improve the games they have. We are all volunteers trying to help the company & are a mixture of all player demographics but unfortunately Zynga didn't listen to much and now doesn't even want to listen to what feedback is being provided anymore. They have even gone as far as to remove the feedback features from the games and their fan pages on Facebook.

So you tell me is this good business for a company or is this something an investor should be made aware of before they invest. When I was a stockbroker we told our clients everything so they were fully informed on the investment they are about to make. I don't know maybe I come the old school of brokers where we wanted to make people money based on all the facts. Times have changed I see.

  • Why Is Zynga Held To A Double Standard By The Media? [View article]
There is no doubt people are addicted to the games I know first hand as I work with the players everyday. I also know the major spenders are no longer spending from talking to them and watching them leave the games.

Here is an interview I did with Forbes and you tell me after you read it if you are still bullish on Zynga. http://onforb.es/smypmo

I am not saying they dont make a product that is appealing I am just say look at the whole picture so Investors are fully informed on everything.

  • Why Is Zynga Held To A Double Standard By The Media? [View article]
Zynga can bring in all the people they want to help them strategically but that wont help them when their real Daily paying player base is dwindling down to a trickle due to Zynga's unwillness to fix game features and overloading the player base with too many tasks at once on their games. This thus causes the revenues to drop because the avid players now refuse to spend on the games anymore and some of these players spent 1000's every month and in some cases every week. You cant just look at a companies balance sheet & press release to see if it is a good investment you have to look at the company as a whole and no is here.

If the players wont spend money on broken games and Zynga doesn't care about them leaving then what kind of future does this company have. They already have a horrible reputation on Facebook with social gaming players and they are doing nothing to fix that. Plus the fact all they are doing, once again, is copying other company games and putting them out like they just invented them do you really think major lawsuits aren't on the horizon for them which again will eat into their minimal profits.

The only thing saving Zynga right now is the fact they are in bed with Facebook & their great marketing team who could sell snow to an Eskimo. Facebook props up their player numbers and in most case dont report them to AppData, Look at them and I mean really look at them you will see what I mean.

Bottomline here, Zynga is doomed to fail unless they grow up and really became a true gaming company that cares about their player base, offers a product that works & fixes the things broken before churning out more stuff to scam the masses. And Online gambling by a company in this shape will fail and result in massive lawsuits so they should think hard about going into it.
