Bank Of America: Another Opportunity To Buy Low Now [View article]
I think it's good and bad; ultimately bad. higher interest rates means banks pay more to borrow which is bad if it is done now. The good is higher interest rates suggests banks and the economy is in good enough condition to borrow at these rates. Unless you believe the economy and banks will thrive, higher interest rates will just give the perception and confidence of a better economy. But since we keep rushing to improve economy results rather than let them play out, I can see us raising interest rates before the banks are ready. Doomsday!

The whole first to offer mobile banking would be great if BAC wasn't already the largest bank in the country in terms of existing bank accounts. The growth opportunity is limited with PNC, USB and others emerging as safe banks that did relatively well with managing debt during the financial crisis. As a customer, I would logically go to the bank with a history of safe banking rather than hope that the screw-ups don't happen again to me.
For example, I personally do not bank with any commercial bank b/c there are far better options out there. Although I would consider PNC a good bank w/ respect to commercial banks. The point is banks have screwed up big time with all the hedging, bad loans, and extremely low borrowing rates. In order for these stocks to return huge capital they will need investors who believe in them. Investors are buying tech and healthcare not banks.

First, this removing houses of BAC's balance sheet was the ideas of 2009 and 2010 which still cannot happen. Mortgage rates are still falling to new lows which suggests house demand is still weaker than ever. Although I am behind this idea, the demand for houses will need to come up drastically for BAC to see an uptick on it's balance sheet. It won't happen for a many years to come.
Hudson City Bancorp (HCBK) could fetch a 31% premium to its current price in a sale to an acquirer "that could take substantial liability marks," reckons Stern Agee's Matt Kelley. Continued to be mentioned as a possible bidder is New York Community Bancorp (NYB). [View news story]
It's probably not even a premium considering it's a bank. It may be the fair value of the company.

Not really. Industrials do not get the attention that tech, biotech and other consumer bought sectors. Fine industrial companies have been getting destroyed since 2009. Ex: FLR, UTX, DOW, DD, MMM, all should be trading much higher from a fundamentals standpoint.
No one values the industrials the way they used to. Also look at CAT and CMI falling faster than the major averages not b/c of fundamentals but oil prices. Industrials and materials can be fine companies but that doesn't mean they will ever be valued properly.
Facebook (FB), CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and the IPO underwriters face a class-action suit by shareholders over accusations they concealed from investors "a severe and pronounced reduction" in the company's revenue growth forecasts. [View news story]
CNBC said FB gets about $3 and change from each facebook user. I think that's obsurd. I personally do not use facebook.

Maybe the stock should be shorted once that becomes available.

So it looks like everyone is in agreement that FB isn't a stock worth buying.
Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOG) could join the Dow in order to keep the index "relevant for a 21st century market," Barron's speculates over the weekend. AA, BAC, and HPQ are seen as possible casualties of such a move. But the paper admits Apple and Google's high share prices would make adding them to the absolute price-weighted index difficult, unless it chooses a new formula. [View news story]
AA, HPQ, JPM, PG, UTX and CSCO should all be replaced... AAPL, GOOG, WFC, CL, ABT and CMCSA. Industrial sector should be reduced b/c it doesn't reflect where consumers are putting their discretionary income.

BAC's assets are a bunch of debt now. We should update the DOW.
