comparing aapl with rimm is like comparing apples and blackberries.

rimm is still a one trick pony. cell phones.

aapl has a broad portfolio of products to fall back on with new ideas coming forward on a regular basis. rimm has to wait for aapl to come up with a new idea and then try to integrate it into their system.

despite all your posturing, the proof of the pudding is in the price of the stock.

aapl is twice the price of rimm but is only off about 35 or so points from the high, whereas rimm is down about 60 points from the high.

tough to argue with those numbers. rimm is still trying to contact dr ehrlich to find that magic bullet.

i still can't get reliable telephone connections in nyc on a sprint phone. everything else offered from pre is on an "if come basis." as lacking as att is as a service, it is light years better than sprint. verizon is still the best for phone connections.

apple has about 30 billion reasons to stay ahead of the pack. sprint / palm is still on line at the soup kitchen.

verizon is on the list as one of the most wanted needs for iphone users and prospective users. att has been spotty in many areas including nyc.

att is supposed to roll out major improvements in coverage in 6/09. we'll see, but if what is rumored is true, then that shortcoming will become history.

rim managers better start resetting their clocks as to what time to come to work.

rimm should thank apple for forcing cell phones to the real world. having verizon or palm or nokia or even rimm set the standards is a joke.

the touch screen will become ubiquitous and the keyboard will disappear like the floppy disk. apple will maintain its position because of safari. as of now, no company can come close to it or even conceive of a way to compete with it. sort of like the mac computers and ipods.

people who look at the verizon phone do so because verizon has the best cell phone reception and they're used to that. at&t doesn't. having said that, the iphone is in a different world and if verizon management weren't so full of themselves, they would have struck a deal with apple and created an unbeatable juggernaut. apple is the only cell phone company with vision. the others just try to hitch a ride. their software and hardware combination is unmatched by anyone.

blackberry is a one trick pony. right now a very good one. but i wouldn't want to go toe to toe against apple on any product since its rebirth. ipod, imac, macbook, iphone, itunes and apple tv are all very very tough. just ask all the apple killers out there.
