I am thinking opening positions at QCOM, MU, VLO,ANRZQ or BTUUQ next week on dips...Any suggestions? Ideally I want to hedge with TVIX,SQQQ too

    • Rubenov: BTUUQ, VLO = pretty awesome stocks significantly undervalued. MU consistently disappoints; would not touch.

    • Chines33: QCOM only one you should put a penny into of those.

    • Chines33: Coal will continue to underperform. And much better energy plays than VLO

    • Rubenov: Not much upside left for QCOM in comparison with the others

    • Chines33: QCOM could got to 70-75 easily. Best of breed. AVGO #2 and very cheap but trading awful.

    • Chines33: There are so many amazing oil and gad plays that are too cheap to buy rather than putting your money in coal stocks.

    • Chines33: QCOM just as cheap as the other chip stocks and has just as much if not more upside. Most important best company in space,No current position

    • Chines33: IMO

    • Mister Ed: All good advice from Chines33. Look for bottoms rather than tops, industries that are growing rather than dying.

    • talbano: WDC IMO is worth a look on a pullback

    • Mister Ed: Check out the 1-yr graph on IAI. This is what a bottoming process looks like.

    • det9: Thanks for all advice. OK> Not going to touch coal stocks, MU. Will check others. Like IMO.

    • det9: I have a full time job so I miss bottoms sometimes. But will watch out. Taking family out now. Thanks a lot everybody.

    • Chines33: WDC very good agreed.

    • avickrey: Don't catch bottoms unless you know what conditions drive the valuation of the stock. VLO looks cheap, but there are logistical concerns..
      1/7/12
    • avickrey: That make HFC and MPC more appealing than VLO.

    • Funkengruven: I like the momentum of QCOM. I think we'll see $65 easily...
      1/7/12
    • Funkengruven: I agree with avickrey not to catch bottoms. I learned the hard way that strategy is not for me. I look for dips...
      1/7/12
    • Mister Ed: Understand. There are bottoms and there are falling knives.

    • BTD70: Good thread--I learned a few things. Tks.

    • Ocean Man: VLO is a play on the WTI-Brent spread widening, which it should with the changes Goldman is making to the indexes, but CVI > VLO.
