  • Office DeMaxpot - 2 Is Not Twice As Good [View article]
Not everyone can be No.1, being No.2 is not bad at all. Except there are only 2, so No.2 is a guaranteed spot. People often forget, even No.2 is huge by any measure. Unlike Circuit City, boring office products is more stable than BBY, ODP most likely will be there down the road, and as long as it is profitable, it is okay.

I bought 2,000 shares @ $1.80, put them away and forgot about them. Looks like I can hang onto to them for a few more years. I don't love ODP, I am only in it for the money.

I was a C student, luckily my teacher did not constantly compare me to the No.1 student. No.1 student got a Physic PhD from Princeton, got laid off in his 50s, too expensive than young kids, same story with No.2 to 5, companies love to lay off 50 years old PhDs. Sometimes, being No.30 is not that bad.

Even when the demand was high, PGH was dropping? why?

Saratogahawk, how have all other Canadian oil stocks been doing? do they all have the same downhill skier charts as PGH? or is it just PGH?
I always love to buy oil stocks, I drive a Hummer for 10+ years, oil stocks gains paid for my gas, free gas, 100,000 MPG.

Didn't I read somewhere Canada said it will not allow China to buy any more Canadian oil operators. If that is true, no sugar daddy.

Nobody knows why it does so badly. Everything they do and got makes sense, yet it drops nonstop.

Sell to take the tax loss, if you still think it is a good gamble, buy back one month later at lower cost, but chances are you won't. There are many more tables and machines in this casino.

Maybe the only thing that keeps it above $4 is the dividends, that is why they pay such high div, once it is cut, the stock will moved to next $3 floor, later $2 floor. Typical old fashion death by 1,000 cuts. But I could be wrong?

To me, stock market is a casino I am forced to play in, we all have money we have to put in places to make returns. I hang onto losers and hope for miracle, as all retail investors do, they rarely come back. For me, it is like walking away from a table I am losing some money, or stay at that table and hope my luck turns. I look at this chart like I am looking at the dealer, and decided I better take $500 loss now and walk away. I just decided I am 20% wrong, 80% right to walk away. I am new to PGH, so I can afford to do that, and I have no emotional attachment to PGH. We all have big winners, it is the losers I cannot control nor predict, it is playing "Defense".

I emailed my 2 sons in their early 20s, they also bought PGH in Jan, both also sold at market this morning. We can make the losses back from others, I am training them to dump losers fast.

But you look at the stock chart of last 5 years, regardless of whatever, oil prices, light or heavy oil, spread, pipeline, etc..oil was up and then down, condition was good or bad, but it kept on going down, so that means market or business facts had nothing to do with stock going down. Even all the smart people here cannot understand it, author cannot figure it out either, despite all the facts he gathered.

That means whatever will happen, oil goes up, pipeline gets made, sell this lot, will not push the price back up. In my experience, when a company like this is sold, the price will not be that much higher than market price, higher, but not double or triple.

We all had losers, this bought back memory, but not sure exactly which or when, but I think I've seen his movie before. Sold all at market this morning. Thanks for the article, because I could not find anything recent on PGH to know more about the drop.

I understood what has been written above, like you, I cannot understand why it has been dropping since I bought 1,500 shares at average $4.60 in Jan and Feb 2013, but it is the 5 years chart that sort of says it all to me. Except some big surprises, stock with a chart like that does not go back up. I put in order to sell all tomorrow, take $500 loss and walk away. Biggest problem for retail investors (like me) is they hang on to losers, while pros just dump losers regardless of the loss, easy for them, it is not their money, nevertheless the right thing to do.

Thank you for the well written article and for the conversation above, the more I read the more confused I got, which leads me to: "When there is a doubt, there is no doubt." My gut conclusion is PGH will cut div and price will continue to go down. I need my investment on cruise control, this one needs high intensity eyeballs. I am new to PGH, have not even gotten my first div yet, will take a small loss and move on, and there are 1,000s of better choices.

If I am wrong, that is fine, because I won't even know, once it is sold, out of sight, out of mind.

No, Chicken Little, actually to show you that you are an idiot to worry about crash or deficit or Detriot going out of business, same stuff I heard for decades, nothing really changed, yet you are jumping up and down and making a fool out of yourself. Everybody knows it is a joke except YOU.

47% don't pay tax. top 50% pays 97.75% of all taxes, top 25% pays 87.30% of taxes.
Who do you think are those 50%? or 25%? rich people? or just average hard working Americans? People here, our neighbors and everyone we know.

When was last time your government said they have enough money and need no extra taxes? Just like fixing any families that spends morre than what they make, CUT SPENDING! Fire 20% of all government workers, cut 20% off everything.

Don't worry, it is only a matter of few years before they will add back all 20% of workers and more, and spend more and more again. How stupid can one be to give an addict more money?

  • The 'De-Bestbuyification' Of Consumer Electronics [View article]
I have not been to a BestBuy in years, there is just absolutely no desire or need to visit BestBuy. I check its Sunday ad and found nothing to buy, at whatever price, there is just nothing really NEW to attract me.

Almost everything I buy now is online, Bose SoundWaveIII, iphone5, Netgear wifi extender, Samsung 17.3" laptop, kitchen vent, 36" apron sink, faucets, bed sheets, lightings, light bulbs, mattress, HP printer.

Why do I need to drive to BestBuy and deal with one of those pimple face rude and arrogant kids? if you can nail one down. It is okay to be rude to me, I'll close you down, I'll kill your entire chain. I am average Joe, I do what everybody else do, and everybody else do what I do.

  • Lowe's And Home Depot Earnings Previews: Better Way To Play The Housing Rebound [View article]
Very true, ever since I re-entered the home ownership in summer 2012, I have been to both HD and Lowe's dozens of times, not including $100,000 renovation, during which, the contractors made daily trips to HD for parts and supplies. After the renovation is completed, I myself spent over $1,000 on plants and flowers for the garden in these 2 stores, that is just for 5% of the garden, the remaining 95% must be done at some point in the next few years. After I sold my home before the housing crash, I did not visit HD or Lowe's once in many years.

You can't have gov workers to go out and do service, they are experts on making up reports and charts to show what they have done for us, why we cannot live without them. Just fire 20% of them, I guarantee you life will go on, recession, so what, if that is what it takes to cut off the addiction, so be it.

With all these Republican-bashing going on nonstop on all networks, can you imagine what will happen if the Republicans are not there? if Obama can do whatever he wants? just count the things that will happen.
