Under-Performing Brazilian Stocks Look Attractive Now [View article]
Anyone who think all Brazil stocks underperform should take a look at the 5-year chart for Ultrapar (UGP) ... what I consider to be the only Brazil stock worth owning anymore, though that may change for some of the others.
Personally, l'm glad I sold out of (PSEC) and went with (BX) in its place (a PE firm, not a BDC) ... half the dividend, but it's still worth it to me for the size, strength, growth and visibility of the underlying company.
Fair enough. As small differences in opinion often turn out, you are more right than I for the short term, but the intermediate time frame will likely tell a different story in that investors are likely to continue returning to GE as long as the economy continues slowly improving.
Homeowner's Choice (HCI +16.3%)soars after Q1 results top expectations. The insurer reports EPS of $1.81 against analysts' estimates of $1.13 on net premiums totaling $60.6M (+49.8% Y/Y). "Our book of business continues to perform well" says CEO Paresh Patel. (PR) [View news story]
Yet I couldn't even find a Market Current to help me assess how HCI had done when they reported last night ... as far as I can find, this is the first one on the subject. I know it's a small company, but I see more coverage of ZipCar and Zynga than the real winners out there.

Thanks Mike. I agree, this one is a keeper. I only wish I had gotten in even sooner, but the Dell deal involvement scared me. I really like the moves these guys are making lately in real estate, Asia, etc.

A friend who is a master trader (I'm an investor) ribbed me when I started buying BX recently ... "why in the #%@& would you buy that now, at its 52-week high!", he exclaimed. The same reason I bought MWA at ~$2 and HCI at ~$10 ... guess who is buying the drinks at happy hour tonight. ;~)
