I’m a private investor who favors undervalued dividend stocks for the long term, but also trades relatively short-term opportunities. I despise losing money so I take due diligence very seriously, resulting in a portfolio that consistently performs very well.
Thus far, 2012 was my best year with a +32% gain from a portfolio of 20-30 stocks (excluding dividends, which are all reinvested). I have since rebalanced the portfolio, reduced its risk profile and reduced the number of holdings to 20-25 (all of which are now dividend payers and only about 5 of which are traded relatively frequently). Thus far, my 2013 portfolio has returned ...More +27% (excluding dividends). I attribute the reduced performance (despite better overall market performance than 2012) to the reduction in risks and number of holdings, combined with the increased focus on long-term yield.
By the way, the 1996 in my user name refers to the year I married, not when I was born.
