yeah, I think you missed his point. His strategy involves options because of the leveraging power behind them and the risk/reward vs. just buying / shorting shares outright.

most of your "crack" descriptions ended with "nothing serious" or "might not mean much" which tells me, your article might not mean much to long-term investors.

Odd (to me at least) that everyone is more inclined to make money only during the bullish times? That tells me everyone would prefer to just click buy and let the fundamentals and upward momentum do the rest. This, of course, is the easier, dare I say "lazy" way of making money in the stock market. Unfortunately, the big boys that manage hedge and investment funds with millions at stake don't play that way and don't care if people emptied their savings account to get in on the action after it soared past 600. If retail investors are serious about making money, learn some technical analysis, learn how to identify trends and try to at least understand how to make money on the bearish side - when your beloved stock decides to take a breather. whether it's a week-long pause or a months long $100 -150 haircut. Two main emotions drive the market, greed and fear. I'm sure all of you know which one is prevailing at the moment for many global reasons besides: (put the latest negative rumor here) People need to make a decision BEFORE they click "buy", at what point (dollar amount) are you willing to part with the stock at a loss and be OK with that... OR figure out how you can profit during these market corrections. At the very least, devise a strategy to protect your profits (AKA: Risk Management) because guess what....it WILL happen again! All the signs that apple was about to correct were flashing (especially from a technical analysis standpoint), and I'll admit I missed them initially but finally found the right side of the trade to be on. now I have the scratch participate when this boat changes course again. When will that happen? your guess is as good as mine, but I'm ready. Good luck and happy investing!

AMZN is looking terribly frothy at this valuation at this point and the rev Kindle numbers will justify a gap filling from the recent spike. hopefully my puts will help fill it. hopefully.
As rumors swirl (I, II, III) about the arrival of an "iPad Mini" with a 7.85-inch display, 52% of respondents to a PriceGrabber survey say they'd buy a 7" iPad (AAPL) selling for $249-$300. Moreover, only 22% of respondents currently own a tablet. Of course, the 9.7" iPads are more than holding their own right now. [View news story]
"Something big is about to happen" that involves an Apple (AAPL) product, claims a source. The source adds she's seen a major increase in Apple-related auditing and customs paperwork, and is positive it has nothing to do with MacBooks or iPads. All signs point to the next iPhone not arriving until fall. [View news story]

News flash folks, it takes millions if not billions worth of shares in volume to get this puppy moving again not some baseless rumor; don't worry....just be patient and carry on. oh, and buy some shares or Aug or Oct calls.

sabrina174: and wait until january for the calls to either expire worthless (which they won't - they'll be deep in the money) or have your shares called at 750 when the stock is closer to 8 or 900? no thank you, I'll write weekly and monthly, collect high premiums which pay for the shares I have or buy more ITM calls while readjusting my strikes as needed. Happy investing!!

The iPad is still full force and supply chain has finally met up with demand. If you believe Horace Deidu (regarded as one of the best AAPL analyst), ipad sales will be strong in this current qtr and bring in solid numbers - filling the gap of the iPhone.

"$1000 in the near future"? i'm bullish on AAPL but I'm curious what you consider "near future". A lot of things could happen in the near future, I wouldn't "strategize" around that target price.
Apple (AAPL -2.2%) responds to a weekend NYTcolumn noting its low overall tax rate. The company touts its U.S. job-creation efforts and charitable donations, and says it has paid $5B in federal and state taxes over the first half of FY12. you speak the truth; amazing that most don't get that there are other forces at work and they collectively set the share price and it's movement (sans surprise news). excellent advice on selling calls and buying on dips. done and done.
