Wal-Mart: Add This Retailer Now For Your Retirement Portfolio [View article]
Not a WMT stock owner, but I shop there almost every week, the one I go to is ALWAYS packed, to the point where I usually dont even bother going until after midnight, just anecdotal evidence of course, but I see this same thing at other walmarts I go to in nearby towns from time to time. This is one moneymaking business. I agree online retailers are going to hurt all brick and mortar stores, but my instinct tells me WMT will be the last to feel the pinch.
If you think T is going to continue to be a great company and make money for years and years, and if you are inclined to stress income over share price appreciation---meaning, holding the stock for the dividend income and increases, then quibbling over a few dollars in share price one way or another is not as important as it would be for someone who is looking to make their gains via price appreciation. Your opinion is in agreement with your 'trading plan' which is fine. As an income investor, if T goes up to 42 after I buy at 35, thats just icing on the cake, if it goes down to 32, then I can buy more shares and increase that income if I choose.
I think if we are investing for income, then who cares if T goes up to 42 or down to 32? silly argument. One thing to consider though, is European telecoms make T and VZ look positively cheap right now. We may think T and VZ are overbought, but investors in Europe may disagree.

Agree, poor choice of title...hopefully, anyone who was smart enough to invest in T, should be smart enough not to dump it because one article says 'avoid'.

Any thoughts on public sector cutbacks affecting this company going forward? Dont they get a lot of business from cities, counties and towns that may be looking to save money any way they can in this economy?
Do You Really Need $1 Million To Retire? [View article]
I dont believe I will need 1 million to retire...if my home is paid for, and I have a reasonably dependable vehicle, where exactly are all my bills going to be coming from? What most people need to do, is pay off their house, and live more frugally...or as another commenter mentioned, move to Thailand:}

As the author notes, there are probably lots of companies who got trounced in 2008 still barely back all the way...I dont think this is evidence of any problem with PEP...good article...I wonder what 3600 in 77 money translates to today though?
