  • More Dow Component Stocks Lost Ground over Past 10 Years than Posted Gains [View article]
The status of CVX and XOM are not just determined by an "ill fated love affair with SUVs". The world economy is still dependent on petroleum to move people and goods, make synthetic fibers, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc., etc. We certainly do need to plan for the practical end of the age of oil but I don't see solar films getting the job done. A massive solar electric plant in the California desert is now being challenged by the "watermelons"(green on the outside and red on the inside) in court and at least one U.S. California Senator is helping them. In the 18th. century we depended on human and animal energy and sailboats. Going back to those halcyon days does not look like a winner.

I detoured from your article to read the Von Mises article about Bernanke's past prognostications. Wow! I once read that Hell is a big theater where you go when you die. You sit in the audience and have to watch all your life's missed opportunities on the stage. Bernanke may have an epic waiting for him in the theater.

  • Was the AIG Bailout a Goldman Bailout by Proxy? [View article]
The entire financial environment in New York is rancid. Don't expect any form of investigation because the present administration, along with the last, has been co-opted by the bankster-gangsters.

  • Seven Uncomfortable Predictions for the Economy [View article]
I cannot share joes opinion that the prophet Obama will steer us away from the "conservative Iceberg". The so-called "conservatives" have certainly screwed up things( such as repealing Glass-Steagall) but I fear that the naive and inexperienced Obama and his collectivist acolytes will fly our economy into the ground. I see nowhere to run or hide either.

  • Misunderstanding the Great Recession [View article]
An excellent and thoughtful article. I, too, thought the repeal of Glass-Steagall was a big mistake.

  • Wall Street, 1792 - 2008? [View article]
We desperately need term limits on Congress and a law making it a criminal offense for any former member of Congress to lobby Congress. Both political parties have been massively corrupted by the process. These bastards don't represent the people, they represent themselves!!!

  • The U.S. on the Precipice  [View article]
Many of the responders to this post seem eager to blame all of this mess on "King George". You need to go back and read it again. Note carefully the names Raines, Gorelick, Dodd, and Frank. These folks are no fans of "King George" but will be tight with Obama! and his friends. Both political parties are deeply morally compromised. I have sadly concluded that Bush 41 and Bush 43 are both RINOS.
