Long on Oil: Sadly it seems to me that Presidential, and MANY OTHER, elections seem to boil down to picking the lesser of evils. I was never happy with George Bush but look at the options: "global warming" Gore, and John,"I voted for it before I voted against it" Kerry. I wasn't happy with McCain but I fear the current crew in Washington will fly the economy, and the currency into the ground. Oy Vey!!

Buffett's Betrayal

Warren Buffet reminds me of the "Wizard" behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. He is a vulture investor, which I have no complaint about, but I do feel disgust for his hypocrisy. He bought the Buffalo Evening News and Dairy Queen at distress prices because the owners did not have adequate estate insurance. He also just happens to own Safco Insurance, whose biggest line I believe is estate life insurance, so he gets them coming and going. Then he piously opposes removing the estate tax! The estate tax is integral; to his business plan !! Pious, unctuous, self righteous are some words that apply to him.

My Thoughts on Oil

Long Live the Fitzman!!. A great article. The Dutch have been using natural gas for transportation fuel for decades. I have said before the weird behavior of Congress and the last few administrations indicates to me that somebody wants to drive economy off a cliff so we can use vaporized pixie dust that leaves absolutely NO CO2. Perhaps if gasoline hits 10$ a gallon, we will be drilling for gas and oil in Ralph Nader's bedroom.

I would like to enthusiastically support the position of ding. The area inside the Washington Beltway is a mysterious force field like the Bermuda Triangle.I propose two possible remedies: (1) limit members of Congress to twelve years only, then they leave to live under the laws they have passed for the rest of us.(note that the Social Security act, OSHA, and The Civil Rights Act of 1964 EXEMPTS Congress!), (2) make it a CRIMINAL: OFFENSE for any former member of Congress to lobby. The problem is that these proposals have to pass through Congress in some form to be enacted. That is like asking child molesters to vote against child molesting.
