A Crude 10 Year Perspective: The DJIA, Oil and Gold

The "Watermelons" (green on the outside and red on the inside) believe if we can just starve the economy (no domestic drilling) that alternative fuels will arrive by magic (pixie dust?). In the meantime actual unemployment hovers around 15% and climbing. We are bankrupting ourselves by buying oil from our enemies with dying dollars. Alternative energy may be big some day but that may be two decades down the road, if then. 1. Exploit natural gas 2. drill domestically 3. import tax on oil from anyplace BUT Canada, Mexico, and Colombia 4. use the import tax EXCLUSIVELY to develop alternative energy sources.

Forget the 1930s; We're Reliving 1975 (Part II)

It appears to me that we now have stagnant, or even declining wages, marked unemployment, low industrial activity, at the same time we are having increases in the price of certain types of food, increases in electricity, increases in "fees" and taxes by state and local governments who have had a severe decline in revenues. The average household cannot consume as in the past due to lowered income and higher costs for relatively critical goods and services. This would seem to meet the criteria for STAGFLATION.
