  • Apple: Yes To iPlay - Hybrid Console/Streaming TV Product [View article]
If this is an Apple Bear Market - bring it on. I bought Apple around $400. I get a robust dividend and trade covered calls every earnings report. What's not to like about this situation? 30%+ in 2013

  • Apple: It's Panic Time [View article]
Apple does not trade on fundamentals any longer - it's more of a trading vehicle. Bill should have come out with this article 30 days ago. The charts suggest Apple just made a double bottom?

  • Analyzing Apple From An Absolute And Relative Value Standpoint [View article]
The real test for Tim Cook is to bring a new innovative product with a totally new revenue stream to market. He has not done this to date. That is what is missing. There are many opportunities and Apple can use their software/hardware expertise to their advantage. I'm looking for an a la-cart television product. I'm also looking for being able to pay for goods and services with my smartphone. Both are apparently on the development block at Apple. The idea of buying LEAPS helps provide leverage and a longer term investment perspective. I'm not in favor of buying the next "hot" tech company and think Apple can integrate products into Apple's model.

  • Apple Earnings: What To Look For Beyond The Numbers [View article]
jguy - so now we compare Apple to Sony. Please, give me a break! A couple of observations regarding this article: 1) iPhone 5 figures are tough to gauge because of the increased roll out schedule. Apple didn't count sales until the customer took delivery. Wasn't this one of the big issues in 4Q? 2) iPhone 5 sales launched in China in December vs. late January 2012. This also creates a much different year over year comparison. 3) Analysts should be able to calculate iPad mini vs full scale iPad sales based on margins.

Hedge fund managers have beaten down Apple only to bid it back up again. Keep an eye on iMac developments as innovative technology from iMac usually translates into advancements in Apple's consumer electronics products.

  • Apple Fire Sale: Part 2 - The Rocket Blast [View article]
This has been an extremely difficult year to analyze/forecast Apple: iPhone 5, iPad mini, Mac launches + fiscal cliff issues + capital gains + what is Apple's next big product? Once an investor or money manager sells Apple to lock in cap gains - why would they get back in ahead of a deal in Washington DC? Too much uncertainty. I believe in the Apple "slingshot" effect and have profited from it - but it is hard to have faith in our elected politicians. Rome was not destroyed by the Barbarians on the outside - Rome was detroyed by the Barbarians on the inside!

  • What's Worrisome About Apple [View article]
Paul, I really appreciate your thought provoking articles. What is your understanding of WalMart going after AT&T, Verizon and Sprint? Perhaps the iPhone discounting is more "shared" by WalMart/Apple than anyone knows? WalMart offers a plan that "shares" AT&T cell towers at roughly a 40% discount off AT&T's contract price. By offering a competitive iPhone price vs. AT&T and Verizon - WalMart offers an extremely attractive service contract. This could explain how WalMart could "eat" a larger percentage of the iPhone discount than one would think. Your thoughts?

  • Apple Is A Buy Before Earnings [View article]
Apple's 1Q 2013 earnings period is shaping up very similar to 1Q 2012. Last year the media was questioning Tim Cooke and his qualifications to replace Steve Jobs. The media criticized Cooke to no end for coming late with iPhone 4S. Analysts missed projections by 7 Billion dollars. The largest dollar volume beat by any company in history! Although for different reasons - the media continues to criticize Cooke. iPhone 5 expectations were unbelievably high. So Apple didn't sell 10 million phones the first weekend? Apple is going to sell 40-50 million i5's in the 1Q. I read that Apple makes $.23 per million phones. That is $11.50 by my calculations for just the iPhone 5 alone. Apple remains the greatest managed US company. I'm really getting tired of CNBC. So what is so great about GE/Comcast?

  • Bull Calendar Spread A Good Options Play For Apple [View article]
This is a tough strategy to execute with a stock like Apple. Not only does an investor have to get the direction correct - you also have to get "market" psychology correct. The volatility Apple has experienced the past 3 months makes this a difficult trade. Why not just wait until mid January and by February or March calls - after you have more information regarding Christmas sales?

  • Oh Apple, About That 'Win' You Thought You Got... [View article]
Why is this all on Tim Cook? Steve Jobs was willing to go "thermonuclear"? The Apple Legal Team had it correct: It took Apple 5 years to develop the iPhone and Samsung 3 months to copy it. I'm all for the innovators who truly make our lives better.

  • Apple Insider Trading History: Interesting, In A Non-Obvious Way [View article]
I personally didn't use Google Maps. I do use an Around Me App, which contains Google Maps. I'm more interested in upgrading from my iPhone 4 to the i5 on November 5th - when my Verizon two year contract is ready for upgrade. I'm really jazzed about using Siri along with the Maps program. There are so many ways around Google Maps - this is all media hype.

  • Why Apple's iPhone Will Continue To Be Successful [View article]
One addition, DoCoMo in Japan is another catalyst for iPhone 5. It's actually larger than Verizon. China Mobile sounds like a 2013 story. Long Apple since 4Q 2011 and delighted with returns!

  • Apple: Pricing Policy, Pricing Power, And Profit [View article]
Great article. Your analysis of Apple's pricing strategy makes perfect sense. The CNBC pundits miss Apple time and time again because they focus on unit metrics.

Any news of how the new iPad has launched in China? It's been on the market for a little over a month. All the hype around iPhone 5 has taken attention away from this important launch.

  • Apple Q3 Earnings Preview: Expect Strong Overseas Contribution; A Slight Pause Due To iPhone 5 [View article]
One man's opinion - iPad sales will be huge this quarter (20+ million). I personally know so many business peers who's employer have provided them with an iPad. Some iPad 2 and others the new iPad. Apple iPad growth in the Enterprise space will be the standout in this quarters earnings report. It's having a negative impact on PC demand - we are already hearing about this from PC makers.
