Rotten Apple? Google Voice App Blocked from App Store [View article]
When you pay full price for a phone, it's yours. When the carrier pays 60% of it for you, they deserve some input on the functionality. The communist mentality that all things digital belong to the people nearly killed the music industry, which Apple then saved.
Ominous Drop in Sales Bodes Ill for More than Just Apple - Barron's [View article]
Barrons is always negative on Apple. They will search for any drop of bad news in a sea of good. They will use the worst analysts in the business to make their point. And we Apple fans always click on their headlines to defend the company. Are you just quoting Barrons to get some traffic? It will work, but you will lose a lot of respect.
Analysts on Apple: Weakness Is a Buying Opportunity [View article]
I really believe Apple has the largest potential upside of any stock I follow. It may be awhile before it takes off again, but think about all the market share to be gained. They are doing well with only a tiny share of the computer market. The iPods and iPhones are a gateway to their computers. I see it all the time. Anyone who uses an Apple product for the first time is amazed by the experience. They must be thinking, Maybe those computers ARE worth the money.
Apple's FY09 EPS Estimate Is Too Low [View article]
My small business employs about 10 freelance technical people, all of whom supply their own laptops. They all started out as PC users, but in the last few years have all switched to MacBooks. Most analysts rely too much on the replacement rate of Mac products and don't see the larger potential of winning over the PC crowd. There is a huge opportunity to increase market share in the business world as younger and hipper people move into the workforce.
It's What Apple's Not Doing That Has Analysts Worried [View article]
" A laptop with similar features from HP is 1/3 the price. " .... HP does not make a laptop with similar features because they cannot run OS-X. Ever tried a Mac ? You would dump Windows and stop shorting AAPL.
Steve Jobs Explains His Weight Loss as 'Hormone Imbalance' [View article]
" As a physician, "hormonal imbalance" means nothing to me. " --- Fair enough. But, as a shareholder, a written guarantee on the Apple website means a lot to me. Jobs is now on record saying he will be well by spring and will continue as CEO. To lie about this would do more long-term damage than to admit he is stepping down. It doesn't seem logical to doubt his statement.
Steve Jobs Explains His Weight Loss as 'Hormone Imbalance' [View article]
This article tries to downplay Jobs' statement. He did not "admit" he is missing MacWorld because of his health. And the use of the word "mysterious" was meant to sound skeptical. Just give up on this, Erick. The shorts are toast.
PC Makers Likely To Feel Compelled to Build 'Smart Tablets' [View article]
Bill Gates once predicted we'd all be using tablets by now. Someone needs to analyze why that has NOT happened. That would be a very interesting article.
I hope the new government brings back the uptick rule. A lot of this market's decline was done on purpose. Let's please give the true investors a fighting chance against the get-rich-quick crowd.
Fast Money Recap - Has Ben Gone Nuts? (12/17/08) [View article]
"President-Elect Barack Obama on Thursday chose financial regulator Mary Schapiro to head the Securities and Exchange Commission and former Treasury undersecretary Gary Gensler to run the Commodities Futures Trading Commission. The choice of Schapiro, who is the CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA, shows the incoming administration is serious about combining the agency and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission because she has experience at both regulators, said political observers. "Financial regulatrory reform will be one of the top priority of mine," said Obama."
Apple and Macworld: The End of an Era or Two [View article]
Whatever this is, it's time for Apple to shake things up. Ironically, their policy of absolute secrecy has made them more predictable. Analysts, hungry for news, literally have to make it up - and it's always more than Apple can possibly deliver. Therefore, every new product launch makes the stock go down because it's never enough to satisfy the hysterical expectations. It has become a joke. A more transparent Apple would not be a bad thing. Today's downgrade was obvious payback by an analyst who wasn't given the information he wanted.
Apple Falls Flat as Market Rebounds - Is There Really Investor Confidence? [View article]
"Mac Psycho?" Now THAT has a nice ring. Or maybe iPsycho. BTW: I was being facecious (maybe I should start using a "smiley face") Hope PC in your post means "politically correct." 'Cause I'm a Mac.
