I think the anticipated costs are grossly underestimated, that the proposal is in fact too complex to accurately account for every cost and that it has a gigantic risk of being an albatross around the neck of our economy. Look, I would be the first to say that, as far as PR is concerned, Apple is not the best at navigating controversial issues, aka SJ health etc., the flip side is that they're generally brilliant at PR on the product end.

The central point and frustration about accounting though I think is a bit darker picture. I happen to believe that it's really not all that difficult to disseminate GAAP and non GAAP numbers, I'm not an accountant and it's really not that hard to figure out. It doesn't require getting under the hood all that much either to figure it out and I dare say most honest investors would say the same. So the question is, if that's true, then what's the deal here? Simply put, there's plenty gaming going on with APple stock Zaky, you know this, and this is why I consider your post a form of satire. People with less sincere motivations will be quick to accuse someone of being paranoid, or a conspiracist accusing analysts of playing this game, but we all know it's true.

Sure, let the government establish rules for such things as net neutrality, the ability of network operators to block Internet traffic, and set spectrum limits if needed, all regulatory issues. But do we really need funding? Hell no. Enterprise always finds a way if there's a practical business model, aka Sprint et al and 4G. This insane notion that there's a bottomless pit for using tax dollars, and especially when private enterprise is fully capable of developing this business is absurd.
