  • Running the Numbers: The Roller Coaster That Is Apple [View article]
You make no accounting for Apple's huge cash hoard and use GAAP accounting comps. Disinformation at it's finest.

  • Microsoft vs. Apple - Which Is Worth More? [View article]
Most analysts have caught on that Apple should be valued on a FCF basis using non GAAP accounting because of the huge amount of earnings deferred over a 2 year period, consequently the PE you post is rubbish. You need to be enlightened to this fact too.

  • Netbooks: Not if, But What Will Replace PCs [View article]
That's all well and good for those just using PC's for the net. Desktops will remain, or some iteration, simply because in a real world working environment you need robust applications and you need to see them large, scale matters. Netbooks are okay for the road warrior and anyone else that doesn't need much from a PC and that's about it. Even cloud computing is questionable, it has not been proven that people are willing to pay a monthly subscription, it hasn't worked well for music and I imagine there will be plenty that prefer their own apps on their own systems.

  • Nintendo Wii: Facing the Inevitable [View article]
So why can't Nintendo advance their platform? Next year we might see Wiii, then Wiiii. Game developers will continue to develop titles, no reason why they shouldn't with a large installed base of the platform in the market.

  • Microsoft Gets the Blogging Community [View article]
"I don't know if Microsoft's blogger outreach efforts are part of some larger more deliberate and organized directed PR effort"

Yes deliberate, you can start with yourself. The charade will never end.

Company's should listen to their customers, that is the only thing relevant to discourse to improve performance. Now, since you use these two companies as example, no one can say Microsoft listens to its customers more than Apple does.

The blogger world is fraught with agenda, both institutionally with the investment world and the technology companies competing. It's just a cloak and dagger chess game. And Mr. Hawk, you're right at the top of the A-list as a surgical tool for special interests.

  • Three Reasons I Chose Microsoft over Apple for Home Media [View article]
So you think the X-Box is a beautiful in home decoration by virtue of deduction.

"...every XBox 360 has a DVD player in it....By using XBox 360s as extender units (I've got two installed now -- one in the bedroom and one in the living room and a third for the kitchen on the way)."

Then you say about Apple: "...for a home media strategy, people would not want 2 boxes in every room, with one of the boxes being a big ugly black DVD player."

Yet 3 X-Boxes? Give us a break you flipping idiot.

Now, you aside, I would venture to guess that most people don't have, nor want, a DVD player in every room, TV perhaps, but not DVD.

  • Asus Eee: Threat to Apple, Microsoft, HP, Dell and the Hard Drive Vendors? [View article]
By the way, can anyone take seriously Asus Eee being on the Most Wished For Notebooks list? Yes, that would be a, HELL no. There's obvious a retail kind of spamming going on here. I mean, come on, as cheap as it is why wish for it, just go buy it with the spare change in your piggy bank.lol

  • Asus Eee: Threat to Apple, Microsoft, HP, Dell and the Hard Drive Vendors? [View article]
Actually currently Apple has the number 10 spot. Interestingly though, it's weird, Apple had 3 of the top 10 laptops for most of December as pointed out (and earlier), so they were obviously the best gift. So I guess sales tax does matter to many. Then again my guess is the quantity of any laptop sale on Amazon after xmas drops off dramatically, so currently the top ten list is not as meaningful.

Wouldn't be surprised though (now that the top 10 Amazon list seems to be getting much more focus than ever before) if there's certain players out there that will try to manipulate this list. So I doubt it will be much of an indicator in years to come. As example, it would be cheaper for a company to buy its own product back through Amazon than advertise in more conventional means when considering the difference in paying for Amazons profit for said product versus conventional advertising. The Amazon best seller list has become free advertising as Amazon becomes increasingly used as a tracking model for sales.

Watch for Apple earnings, that will tell the real story.
