  • The Election Outcome And The Rising Risk To Your Portfolio [View article]
You mean the racial divide and class warfare Mitch McConnell et. al. has perpetuated, don't you? Obama has consistently sought conciliation. His greatest weakness as a politician is his reluctance to let out his inner Harry Truman PRN and being born black. BTW, in case you still haven't gotten it straight, he was Born In The USA. As for this alleged "far left stance of the Senate". BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Actually blue collar and lower level white collar people generally work hard and for it have been losing ground since the 60's with only a short respite in the late '90. Grunt workers, high level executives and your knowledge workers are all necessary and your obnoxious stereotyping is not.

How the H did we ever start looking at cutting SS benefits without first subjecting everyones total earned income to withholding instead of this cut off of around 113,000? And what net stimulative effect is there in cutting the withholding for minimum wage earners only to cut benefits? You may say this is just kicking the can down the road but boomers (like me) are going to die off and a more sustainable worker to retiree ratio will assert itself. Until we reform withholding don't speak to me about trimming my benefits. UNCHAIN MY CPI!

  • Marijuana Stocks Are Extremely Dangerous Investments [View article]
I had similar thoughts about what might have been with MDBX but have since have come back down to Earth. This stock is very thinly traded, typically around 7,000 shares daily. You would have never have sold your shares for anywhere near the all time high because there would have been no person, group of people or financial institution to take the other side of the trade. Since then I've been waiting for MDBX to go back down to a penny stock since I can find nothing in its financials to justify it being any higher.

My basis for saying you are stereotyping is your hostile, anecdotal and dubious generalizations which is what stereotyping means.

  • The Bakken Makes 5.64% Dividend Payer Investors Real Estate Trust A Secular Growth Story [View article]
I would be interested in your source, if any, for your assertion that Minnesota has shale oil development potential in any way similar to the Bakken. A morning of Google searching has confirmed what a lifetime of living in the state has taught me, the geology of Minnesota is radically different from any that has or is likely to contain economically valuable amounts of oil or natural gas. It is true that tiny pockets of oil/ng have been found in various spots since Reconstruction but they have not only been useless but I imagine an economic disaster for anyone hoping to strike potable water. We do have a vibrant high tech industry, as the article stated, including medical parts. We also have high silica sand deposits, potentially useful for fracking, in a small area in extreme southern Minnesota (and Wisconsin) near the Mississippi.

Gee, I really have a tough time having a lot of sympathy for those in the million per year neighborhood being shafted by Social Security. The withholding/benefit ratio can IMHO be adjusted to be a win/win outcome, at least nominally, and what if it can't? You can argue that no one depending on a salary is truly wealthy but in the upper 6 figures you can get there. This is true no matter if the kids go to Ivy League colleges, high toned prep schools and grew up expecting country club memberships and ownership of thorough bred horses, yada, yada. And if there are cases were this is not true the parents should have learned how to practice contraception.

  • Marijuana May Be The Next Big Growth Sector In The U.S. Stock Market [View article]
Medbox has a 52 week low of 0.03 ad a high of 215 which it achieved right after the election. Since then it has nosedived to the low 20s gone up again above 90 and as of this writing (before the opening 12/17) is quoted @66.75. The company has cash on hand around 6 figures, justifying penny stock status, and is selling for thousands of times book. How many thousands of times I won't specify because anything I write now will be ludicrously inaccurate within an hour of the opening. Anyone playing with this issue at these levels is (ahem) smoking something. And I would be sceptical of citing certain dot com issues as a comfort, namely AMZN which is a mature business selling for around a 3000 PE. Investing in issues with more reasonable valuations will get people through the fiscal cliff and debt ceiling hassles, the market got through the '08 crises and the broader economy, although lagging is also recovering. Anyone totally ruined in the upcoming days has only himself/herself to blame, although many will find a way to spend the rest of their lives blaming Obama.

  • The Obama administration releases its final fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks, requiring each automaker's fleet to reach an average 54.5 miles/gallon by 2025, nearly doubling current levels. To meet the standard, automakers will need to introduce new technologies and sell more alternative fuel vehicles. Critics say the rules will add thousands to new car prices[View news story]

  • Retirement Strategy: Taking Action On Healthcare Stocks Now (Part 27) [View article]
I've held the T Rowe Price Health Sciences Fund, which is somewhat more diverse within the healthcare sector than the name implies, since 1999 and it has provided a steady return. This spans three administrations, including a 61% return since Obama has taken office, Y2K, the Enron etc. disaster, 9/11 and the '08 crash. To hell with politics and the rest of the noise, trust the demographics.
