  • Likely Buyout Of SodaStream Makes It A Huge Buy [View article]
Never happen...it would create huge issues for their (KO more so than PEP) bottling agreements with independents. Just another marketing ploy for SODA.

SCCO didnt pay a special dividend due to the cliff it was due to the suit they won regarding their parent company. 79% payout ratio obviously isnt sustainable.

  • 2 Reasons Why Income Investors Should Ignore Warren Buffett's Dividend Argument [View article]
    Tim,

He is referring to BRK only not in general. He has a floor on the stock at 125% of book through buybacks so he can guarantee that price. I own BRK soley in a taxable account and would be very upset if he started paying dividends because it would be a signifigant cap gain that I do not want.

Great article! Although in my honest opinion I think MCD and KO are too closely correlated. Same with Kinder and XOM very close correlations.

  • A 60/40 Portfolio Without U.S. Treasuries Or U.S. Large Caps [View article]
I agree with Bruce7b. Long term bond fund in this environment is crazy. I've sold off a lot of my intermediate term bonds due to my perceived interest rate risk in the near term. Also why go with VNQ with a PE of 65 when US equities (VTI) are a lot more reasonable in valuation (less bubbly you could say.) I would switch it out for VNQI at a much more reasonable 13x and 1.1 to book.
Honestly I would be less concerned with another big crash and more concerned with inflation eating into your purchasing power.

  • 5 More Value Stocks For 2013 [View article]
Bill. I also enjoy your articles although I disagree on JPM being a value buy at this time. I would say it was earlier in the year when trading at .75x book however with the recent second half run up it is currently trading at its historical avg of .9ishx book. I do agree that it has stellar management and a great dividend track record as well as the fortress balance sheet. I do feel its fairly valued and not a true value play. Regardless I am sure it will do quite well long term. I just dont see it at a great value at the moment. I am long JPM and have been long since 2008 with my most recent purchase right after the London Whale issue. Keep up the interesting articles.

  • Why I'm A Dividend Maniac [View article]
Great article. But one thing to mention, this may be a great strategy for retirement funds in a tax sheltered account. However implementing this strategy in a taxable account makes you liable for significant tax liabilities even if the dividends are part of a DRIP program. Which will clearly reduce your return on investment.
